Description
0.06–0.10mm heat-seal tray lidding film is a customizable rollstock film developed for sealing compatible CPET food trays used for ready meals, frozen foods, airline catering, institutional meals, bakery products, and other prepared-food applications.
HSQY supplies clear or printed lidding film in customized thicknesses, roll widths, roll lengths, core sizes, peel strengths, and functional grades. Depending on the required package, available options may include easy-peel, weld-seal, anti-fog, high-barrier, freezer-compatible, microwave-compatible, and ovenable-grade structures.
The film structure must be selected according to the tray flange material and thermal process. A standard BOPET/PE laminate should not automatically be treated as an ovenable film. Applications involving conventional ovens, microwaves, freezing, hot filling, or modified atmosphere packaging must be validated using the exact film, tray, food, sealing machine, temperature, pressure, dwell time, and heating cycle.

Tray sealing depends on the chemistry of the tray flange and the sealant layer, not only on film thickness. The tray material must be identified before the film structure is selected.
| Tray Material | Film Selection Guidance | Typical Application |
|---|---|---|
| CPET | Use a CPET-compatible sealant and choose easy-peel or weld-seal performance according to the meal and heating cycle. | Ovenable and microwaveable ready meals, subject to validation |
| APET / RPET / PET | Use a PET-compatible sealing layer. Anti-fog and high clarity are often required for chilled retail packs. | Fresh produce, bakery, deli, meat, and chilled meals |
| PET/PE | Match the lidding film to the PE sealing surface on the tray flange. | Chilled foods and general food packaging |
| PP | Use a PP-compatible sealant such as an appropriate CPP or specialized PP-sealing layer. | Microwave meals, dairy, dips, and prepared foods |
| Aluminium or Coated Paperboard | A custom sealant structure may be required according to the rim coating and thermal process. | Ready meals, bakery, and specialty food packs |
| Seal Type | Main Benefit | Best Suited For |
|---|---|---|
| Easy Peel | Clean, consumer-friendly opening with controlled peel force | Retail ready meals, chilled foods, desserts, and convenience packs |
| Medium Peel | Balances opening convenience and transport security | Prepared meals, catering, and distribution-sensitive products |
| Weld Seal | Stronger permanent seal and enhanced tamper evidence | Heavy products, liquid-containing meals, and packs requiring maximum seal integrity |

Seal performance is affected by temperature, pressure, dwell time, tray-flange cleanliness, film tension, sealing-tool condition, tray rigidity, product contamination, filling temperature, and storage conditions. Film that performs well on one machine may require different settings on another line.
Before commercial production, test seal continuity, peel force, leakage, burst strength, film tracking, wrinkling, fogging, print registration, freezer performance, microwave performance, oven performance, and MAP gas retention when applicable.
Provide the following information so HSQY can recommend the correct film and prepare an accurate quotation:
Tray material, tray supplier, and tray product code
Tray top dimensions, flange width, and tray sample or drawing
Tray-sealing machine brand, model, and tooling format
Required film thickness, roll width, roll length, core ID, and maximum roll diameter
Easy-peel, medium-peel, or weld-seal requirement
Food type, filling temperature, storage temperature, and shelf-life target
Freezer, microwave, conventional oven, hot-fill, MAP, pasteurization, or retort process
Anti-fog, oxygen barrier, moisture barrier, perforation, or printing requirements

HSQY can provide available quality-management, inspection, and material documentation for the supplied grade. Food-contact compliance should be confirmed for the exact film structure, intended food, destination market, storage conditions, and heating process. ISO 9001 is a quality-management certification and should not be presented as a substitute for product-specific food-contact documentation.

Sample Packaging: Trial rolls are wrapped in protective film and packed in cartons to reduce dust, moisture, and edge damage.
Bulk Packaging: Finished rolls are protected with PE film, kraft material, cartons, or other suitable export packaging.
Pallet Packaging: Export pallets are configured according to roll dimensions, weight, shipment method, and customer requirements.
Roll Identification: Labels can show grade, thickness, width, length, lot number, net weight, winding direction, and production date.
Delivery Terms: FOB, CIF/CNF, EXW, DDU, and door-to-door services can be discussed.
Lead Time: Typically around 10–12 days after deposit and final specification approval, subject to printing, quantity, and production schedule.
The terms are commonly used interchangeably. Both describe flexible rollstock used to create a heat seal over a tray or container. “Lidding film” emphasizes its function as the top web, while “tray sealing film” emphasizes the sealing process.
Yes. The product is primarily positioned for compatible CPET ready-meal trays. The exact sealant structure and peel strength must be selected according to the tray flange, food, storage conditions, and heating process.
It should not be assumed that every BOPET/PE structure is suitable for 220°C. Oven use requires an application-specific heat-resistant film and sealant system. The complete package must be tested using the actual CPET tray, food, temperature, time, and cooking method.
Yes, but not with one universal sealant in every case. APET, RPET, CPET, PET/PE, and PP tray rims may require different sealing layers. Provide the tray material and a sample so compatibility can be confirmed.
Yes. Easy-peel, medium-peel, and weld-seal versions can be developed. Target peel force and failure mode should be agreed and tested on the actual tray before bulk production.
Yes. Anti-fog treatment can be supplied for chilled meals, fresh food, produce, meat, dairy, and other products where condensation may obstruct product visibility.
High-barrier structures can be evaluated for modified atmosphere packaging. Provide the required oxygen transmission rate, water-vapor transmission rate, gas mixture, product shelf life, and storage conditions.
Yes. Printing can include logos, graphics, preparation instructions, product information, traceability content, and date-code areas. Provide the artwork, print repeat, color requirements, film width, and annual volume.
Common causes include an incompatible sealant layer, contaminated tray rims, incorrect temperature, insufficient pressure or dwell time, uneven tooling, excessive film tension, tray-flange deformation, food oils, condensation, or unsuitable storage conditions.
Thickness, roll width, roll length, paper-core diameter, core length, winding direction, maximum outer diameter, and roll weight can be customized subject to production feasibility and the tray-sealing machine.
The stated MOQ is 500kg. Typical lead time is approximately 10–12 days after deposit and final specification approval. Printed, high-barrier, anti-fog, or special ovenable structures may require additional time.
Yes. Send your tray material, dimensions, machine model, required roll width, seal type, food application, and heating process. HSQY can review sample availability and recommend a suitable trial grade.
Store rolls in their original protective packaging in a clean, dry area away from direct sunlight, heat, moisture, dust, solvents, and strong odors. Allow cold-stored rolls to acclimatize before opening to reduce condensation.
