Description

What Is 60 Micron PET/PE Lidding Film?

60 micron PET/PE lidding film is a multilayer heat-sealing film supplied in rolls for closing compatible food trays on automatic or semi-automatic tray-sealing machines. The PET or BOPET outer layer provides strength, clarity, dimensional stability, and a printable surface, while the PE-based inner layer provides the heat-seal function.

This product is primarily positioned for suitably sized HSQY CPET food trays used for ready meals, frozen meals, airline catering, institutional food service, bakery products, and other prepared-food applications. The standard nominal thickness is 0.06mm, equal to 60 microns, with custom roll widths, roll lengths, cores, printing, peel strength, anti-fog treatment, and barrier structures available according to the packaging process.

The correct lidding film must be validated with the actual tray flange, sealing temperature, pressure, dwell time, machine, food product, storage conditions, and heating cycle. A standard PET/PE laminate should not automatically be described as suitable for every CPET, APET, PET, PP, microwave, freezer, or conventional-oven application.

Optional Functional Layer Adds anti-fog, oxygen barrier, moisture barrier, UV protection, or other functions Specify shelf life, storage environment, visibility, and regulatory requirements

Which Tray Materials Can PET/PE Lidding Film Seal?

Film thickness alone does not determine compatibility. The sealant layer must be chemically compatible with the tray flange. Provide the tray resin, flange construction, tray supplier, and a physical sample before commercial production.

Tray Material Compatibility Guidance Typical Use
CPET Primary application for this product page. Confirm CPET-compatible sealant and thermal-cycle requirements. Ready meals, frozen meals, airline and institutional catering
APET / RPET / PET Requires a PET-compatible sealing layer; anti-fog is often requested for chilled retail display. Produce, meat, bakery, deli, desserts, and chilled meals
PET/PE Tray A PE-based sealant may seal to the PE sealing surface after compatibility testing. Chilled food and general prepared-food packaging
PP Standard PE sealant should not be assumed to seal every PP tray. A PP-compatible sealant may be required. Microwave meals, dairy, dips, and prepared foods
Aluminium or Coated Paperboard Custom sealant structures may be required according to the rim coating and process temperature. Ready meals, bakery, and specialty food packs

Easy-Peel Film vs. Weld-Seal Film

Sealing Conditions and Line Testing

Seal quality depends on temperature, pressure, dwell time, tray-flange cleanliness, tray rigidity, film tension, tooling flatness, machine speed, filling temperature, product contamination, and storage conditions. A film that performs correctly on one tray or machine may need different settings on another line.

Before mass production, test film tracking, seal continuity, peel force, leakage, burst strength, wrinkling, print registration, anti-fog performance, freezer performance, MAP gas retention, microwave performance, and conventional-oven performance when applicable.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is 60 micron PET/PE lidding film?

It is a 0.06mm multilayer tray-sealing film with a PET or BOPET outer layer and a PE-based heat-seal layer. It is supplied in rolls for sealing compatible food trays on tray-sealing machinery.

Is 0.06mm the same as 60 microns?

Yes. One millimetre equals 1,000 microns, so 0.06mm equals 60 microns. The acceptable manufacturing tolerance should be stated in the approved specification.

Is PET/PE film the same as plain PET film?

No. Plain PET film is normally a single polyester base film and is generally not directly heat sealable. PET/PE film is a laminate or multilayer structure that combines PET strength and printability with a PE-based heat-seal layer.

Is this film designed for CPET ready-meal trays?

Yes. This page primarily targets compatible HSQY CPET trays. Send the tray material, product code, drawing, or physical sample so the sealant and peel behavior can be confirmed.

Can PET/PE lidding film seal APET, RPET, or PP trays?

It may seal selected APET, RPET, PET/PE, or other trays when the sealant is compatible. Standard PE sealant should not be assumed to seal every PP tray; PP may require a PP-compatible sealing layer.

Is easy-peel PET/PE sealing film available?

Yes. Easy-peel, medium-peel, and stronger weld-seal options can be evaluated. The target peel force and failure mode must be tested on the actual tray and production line.

Can standard PET/PE film be used at 220°C in a conventional oven?

It should not be assumed that every PET/PE laminate is suitable for 220°C. Conventional-oven use requires an application-specific heat-resistant structure validated with the exact film, CPET tray, food load, temperature, time, and cooking process.

Is anti-fog film available for refrigerated products?

Yes. Anti-fog treatment can be added for chilled meals, produce, meat, bakery, dairy, and other moist products where condensation may obstruct product visibility.

Can HSQY supply high-barrier film for MAP packaging?

High-barrier structures can be evaluated for modified atmosphere packaging. Provide the required OTR, WVTR, gas mixture, food type, storage temperature, and target shelf life.

Can the film be custom printed?

Yes. Custom printing can include logos, graphics, cooking instructions, product information, traceability content, and date-code areas. Provide artwork, colors, print repeat, width, and expected quantity.

Why does tray sealing film sometimes leak?

Common causes include incompatible sealant, contaminated tray rims, incorrect temperature, insufficient pressure or dwell time, uneven tooling, excessive film tension, damaged tray flanges, food oil, condensation, or unsuitable storage conditions.

Can roll width, length, core, and winding direction be customized?

Yes. Provide the required width, roll length, paper-core ID, core length, maximum outer diameter, roll weight, winding direction, and machine model for feasibility review.

What is the MOQ and lead time?

The currently stated MOQ is 500kg. Typical lead time is approximately 10–14 working days after deposit and final specification approval. Printed or special-barrier structures may require additional time.

Can I request samples before placing a bulk order?

Yes, subject to stock and the requested specification. Provide your tray sample, material, dimensions, sealing-machine model, roll width, peel requirement, food application, and heating process.

How should PET/PE lidding film rolls be stored?

Store rolls in their original protective packaging in a clean, dry area away from direct sunlight, excessive heat, moisture, dust, solvents, and strong odors. Allow cold-stored rolls to acclimatize before opening to reduce condensation.
