Product Description
HSQY GAG sheet is a three-layer PET-based sheet with a PETG/APET/PETG structure designed for thermoforming, vacuum forming, blister packaging, clear folding boxes, trays and other transparent packaging applications. The PETG surface layers help improve forming and surface performance, while the APET core provides useful rigidity and cost control.
HSQY supplies clear GAG sheet rolls and cut sheets in thicknesses from 0.15mm to 3mm, roll widths from 110mm to 1280mm and standard sheet sizes including 915 × 1220mm and 1000 × 2000mm. Custom widths, sheet sizes, colors, roll configurations and packaging can be discussed for thermoforming companies, packaging converters, folding-box manufacturers and wholesale buyers.
GAG sheet is commonly a three-layer co-extruded PET sheet consisting of PETG outer layers and an APET core. It can be described as PETG/APET/PETG, G-PET-G or an A/B/A structure, where the two outside PETG layers surround the central APET layer.
The structure is designed to combine characteristics of both PETG and APET. PETG surfaces can provide improved toughness, forming behavior, folding and bonding performance, while the APET core helps provide stiffness and reduce the amount of higher-cost PETG required compared with a full PETG sheet.
For this reason, GAG is often considered when standard APET does not provide sufficient forming or folding performance but a full PETG construction is not economically necessary.
| Layer | Material | Main Function |
|---|---|---|
| Outer Layer A | PETG | Surface toughness, forming behavior, folding and bonding performance |
| Core Layer B | APET | Rigidity, dimensional support and material-cost control |
| Outer Layer A | PETG | Symmetrical PETG surface performance on the opposite side |
The exact PETG/APET/PETG layer ratio should be confirmed according to the forming depth, stiffness, folding, sealing or bonding requirement of the finished package.

The PETG surface layers can provide a more forgiving forming surface than standard APET for selected deep-draw or complex packaging geometries. Final performance depends on layer ratio, sheet thickness, forming temperature, mold geometry and forming equipment.
Clear GAG sheet provides good product visibility for blister packaging, folding boxes, clamshells and retail display applications where transparency is important.
PETG surface layers can improve toughness and resistance to cracking during folding or forming, while the APET core helps maintain useful stiffness for the finished package.
GAG is frequently considered for clear folding boxes and fabricated packaging because PETG surfaces can provide useful folding, gluing and selected heat-sealing characteristics. Adhesive or sealing compatibility should be tested with the buyer's actual production system.
PETG and APET are both polyester materials in the PET family. This can simplify the material structure compared with laminates that combine unrelated polymer families. Actual recyclability and acceptance still depend on the finished package, additives, labels, adhesives and local recycling infrastructure.
APET, PETG and GAG are all used in transparent thermoforming and packaging, but their structures and processing characteristics are different. GAG is often selected as a middle option when the buyer wants PETG-like surface behavior with an APET core.
| Comparison | APET | GAG | PETG |
|---|---|---|---|
| Structure | APET | PETG / APET / PETG | PETG |
| Rigidity | Good | Good balance from APET core | Generally more flexible than APET |
| Toughness | Suitable for standard packaging | PETG surfaces improve toughness | High |
| Thermoforming | Good for standard forming | Useful for more demanding forming while retaining APET core | Very good for demanding and deep forming |
| Folding / Bonding | Application dependent | PETG surfaces can improve folding and bonding behavior | Good |
| Cost Position | Usually the cost-focused standard option | Middle option depending on PETG layer ratio | Usually higher material cost |
| Typical Selection | Standard trays, clamshells and blisters | Folding boxes, complex thermoforming and transparent packaging | Deep draw, demanding forming and premium transparent parts |
GAG sheet is suitable for vacuum and thermoforming applications where the converter requires transparency, useful rigidity and improved resistance to cracking during forming.
Actual forming conditions depend on total thickness, PETG layer ratio, mold depth, heater configuration, machine speed and forming method. Buyers should evaluate samples on their own thermoforming equipment before approving mass production.
Drying requirements can depend on material moisture, storage conditions and processing temperature. Do not assume that every GAG grade or storage condition can always be formed without pre-drying; follow the technical guidance applicable to the supplied grade.
Clear folding boxes require more than transparency. The sheet must also tolerate scoring, creasing, bending, adhesive bonding and repeated handling without excessive whitening or cracking.
PETG outer layers make GAG attractive for folding-box applications because they can improve surface toughness and folding behavior compared with standard APET. Final crease performance depends on thickness, score geometry, grain direction, processing conditions and box design.
If the box will be glued or heat sealed, provide HSQY with the adhesive type, sealing method and production speed so compatibility can be tested before bulk production.
GAG sheets are used by thermoforming companies, blister packaging converters, folding-box factories and transparent packaging manufacturers that require a balance of clarity, toughness, stiffness and processability.

HSQY Plastic Group Global Exhibition Highlights
GAG sheet is commonly a three-layer co-extruded structure consisting of PETG outer layers and an APET core. It is usually written as PETG/APET/PETG or an A/B/A structure.
In the packaging sheet market, GAG generally refers to a PETG/APET/PETG composite sheet. The name describes the PETG surface layers surrounding the APET center layer.
APET is normally a single APET material structure, while GAG combines PETG surfaces with an APET core. The PETG outer layers can improve forming, toughness, folding and bonding performance compared with standard APET in selected applications.
PETG sheet is made primarily from PETG, while GAG uses PETG only as the outer layers around an APET core. GAG can therefore provide PETG-like surface characteristics while using APET to provide rigidity and help manage material cost.
Yes. GAG sheet is commonly used for vacuum and thermoforming. Actual forming performance depends on thickness, PETG layer ratio, mold depth and production conditions, so sample testing is recommended before bulk production.
Drying requirements depend on the GAG formulation, moisture level, storage conditions and processing temperature. Follow the technical recommendation for the supplied grade rather than assuming that pre-drying is never required.
Yes. GAG is often selected for transparent folding boxes because its PETG surfaces can provide useful toughness, folding and bonding characteristics. Score design, adhesive compatibility and actual box construction should still be tested.
A suitable food-contact GAG grade can be considered for selected food-packaging applications. Compliance depends on the resin, additives, food type, contact conditions and destination-market regulations, so applicable documentation must be confirmed before ordering.
The current product specification covers approximately 0.15mm to 3mm thickness, with roll widths from 110mm to 1280mm.
Yes. GAG can be supplied in roll, slit-roll and cut-sheet formats. Standard reference sheet sizes include 915 × 1220mm and 1000 × 2000mm, with customized dimensions available according to production feasibility.
The current listed MOQ is 1000kg. Customized structures, colors or special roll configurations may require confirmation according to production conditions.
Sample availability can be confirmed according to thickness and specification. Testing the material on the actual thermoforming, folding, gluing or sealing process is recommended before mass production.
