Product Description
HSQY Clear GAG Film Sheet for Thermoforming is a transparent, three-layer co-extruded polyester sheet with a PETG/APET/PETG (A/B/A) structure. It combines PETG surface layers with an APET core to provide a balance of clarity, stiffness, toughness and converting performance for thermoformed trays, blister packaging, clear containers and other rigid packaging applications.
HSQY Plastic supplies clear GAG film and sheet in thicknesses from 0.15 mm to 3 mm, roll widths from 110 mm to 1280 mm, and cut-sheet sizes including 915 × 1220 mm and 1000 × 2000 mm. Customized dimensions and colors can be discussed according to production requirements.
GAG film is designed for converters seeking the useful surface characteristics of PETG together with the structural support of APET. Suitable grades can be processed using thermoforming, vacuum forming, die cutting, trimming and selected folding or bonding methods.
For packaging manufacturers, thermoforming converters and material distributors, HSQY offers technical discussions covering film thickness, PETG layer ratio, roll dimensions, mold design, finished-part requirements and bulk supply.

Clear GAG film is a multilayer PET-based material produced by co-extruding PETG outer layers and an APET middle layer. It is also known as GAG sheet, PETG/APET/PETG film or G-PET-G sheet.
PETG is glycol-modified polyethylene terephthalate, which offers useful toughness and processing characteristics. APET is amorphous polyethylene terephthalate, a transparent polyester material commonly used for rigid packaging.
During thermoforming, the GAG sheet is heated to a suitable forming condition and shaped over or into a mold using vacuum, pressure or other forming methods. Once cooled, the formed product can be trimmed into a packaging tray, blister, container or insert.
Actual processing performance depends on the PETG/APET layer ratio, total thickness, moisture condition, heating profile, mold geometry and forming depth. Material samples should be evaluated on the intended production equipment before bulk approval.
GAG film uses a symmetrical A/B/A construction. The PETG outer layers provide surface characteristics useful for forming and fabrication, while the APET core contributes rigidity and dimensional support.
| Layer | Material | Main Function |
|---|---|---|
| Outer Layer A | PETG | Surface toughness, forming behavior and converting characteristics |
| Core Layer B | APET | Rigidity, dimensional support and material-cost optimization |
| Outer Layer A | PETG | Comparable surface characteristics on the opposite side |
The proportions of PETG and APET can influence forming behavior, final rigidity, surface performance and cost. Customers with specific draw-depth or converting requirements should confirm the appropriate construction with HSQY.

Clear GAG film provides good product visibility for transparent trays, blister packs, clamshells and retail containers. Actual haze, gloss and optical appearance depend on film thickness, surface quality and material formulation.
Suitable GAG grades can be heated and shaped into three-dimensional packaging components. Heating conditions, draw ratio, mold venting and cooling should be adjusted to achieve consistent forming quality.
The PETG/APET/PETG structure combines useful surface toughness with central-layer stiffness. Finished-part performance depends on the total film gauge, layer ratio, formed geometry and handling conditions.
GAG film can be supplied in roll and sheet formats. Custom widths and roll configurations can be discussed to match customer production equipment and reduce material trimming.
Suitable GAG material can be considered for die cutting, folding, trimming, selected printing and bonding applications. Ink, adhesive and other converting compatibility should be tested using the intended production system.
Using PETG on the surfaces and APET in the core can reduce the amount of PETG required compared with an equivalent solid PETG construction. The resulting material cost and performance depend on the selected layer configuration.
Thermoformed Packaging Trays: GAG film can be converted into rigid transparent trays for consumer products and selected food packaging applications. Material and food-contact requirements must be verified for the intended use.
Vacuum-Formed Blister Packs: Clear GAG film can be formed into blister cavities for hardware, cosmetics, toys, accessories and other retail products.
Clamshell Containers: Selected GAG grades can be formed into hinged packaging and containers where transparency, rigidity and appropriate formed-part strength are required.
Protective Packaging Inserts: GAG sheets can be formed or trimmed into product-positioning inserts and transparent packaging components for transport and retail display.
Folding Boxes and Clear Packaging: GAG can be evaluated for transparent boxes and packaging structures requiring cutting, folding and joining processes.
Electronic Packaging: Selected clear trays and inserts can be produced from GAG sheet. Where electrostatic protection is required, a separately qualified anti-static or ESD grade should be selected.
Decorative and Display Components: Clear or colored GAG sheet can also be considered for certain decorative and fabricated plastic products.
Clear GAG Film Roll
Vacuum Forming Application
Thermoformed Packaging
Inspect the GAG film or sheet for cleanliness, thickness consistency, storage condition and surface quality. Material drying requirements should be evaluated according to moisture exposure, production grade and processing equipment.
Heat the GAG material evenly to the suitable forming condition. The heating profile should account for total thickness and the PETG/APET/PETG multilayer structure.
Shape the heated film using an appropriate mold and forming method. Vacuum distribution, mold geometry, forming depth and optional plug assistance can influence the finished wall-thickness distribution.
Cool the formed material under controlled conditions to support dimensional stability. Release the finished part from the mold without unnecessary deformation.
Trim the formed product according to the final packaging design. Inspect cavity definition, appearance, wall-thickness distribution, dimensional accuracy and mechanical performance before approving commercial production.
Material Thickness: Choose the film gauge according to the finished packaging dimensions, forming depth and required rigidity.
Roll Width: Specify a width that matches your thermoforming machine, mold layout and trimming allowance.
PETG Layer Ratio: Discuss the PETG outer-layer thickness and APET core ratio where forming or converting performance is especially important.
Forming Depth: Provide cavity dimensions, draw ratio and mold design information to support material selection.
Optical Requirements: State the required transparency, gloss, color and acceptable visual quality of the finished product.
Additional Processing: Identify planned trimming, die cutting, folding, printing or bonding operations.
Food-Contact Requirements: For food packaging, provide the intended food type, contact conditions and destination market so the appropriate material grade and documentation can be reviewed.
Roll Specifications: Indicate the required core diameter, outside roll diameter, winding direction, roll weight and packing requirements where applicable.
Purchasing Details: Include your estimated order quantity, shipment destination and requested delivery schedule.
