Colored Polypropylene Sheet
HSQY 1mm black polypropylene sheet is a lightweight, semi-rigid PP material for printing, displays, packaging, vacuum forming, thermoforming and fabricated components.
The 1mm gauge provides greater shape retention than thinner PP film while remaining practical for cutting, forming and converted products. Black color provides an opaque visual base for retail displays, packaging inserts, industrial components and printed applications.
The current detailed product range covers approximately 0.25–5mm thicknesses, a standard 1220 × 2440mm sheet size, widths up to 1600mm and matte, glossy or textured surfaces. Buyers should specify the required PP grade, surface, printing process, forming conditions and final application before bulk production.

A 1mm black polypropylene sheet is a solid, non-fluted PP sheet manufactured with black pigment or masterbatch incorporated into the polymer. It is different from corrugated polypropylene board, which contains a hollow fluted structure.
At 1mm thickness, the sheet provides a practical balance between flexibility and shape retention. It can be used as a printable substrate, converted packaging component, display panel, liner or starting sheet for suitable thermoforming applications.
The correct PP formulation should be selected according to rigidity, impact resistance, forming conditions, temperature, printing, outdoor exposure and other functional requirements.
The 1mm gauge offers greater stiffness than very thin PP film while remaining easier to cut, bend and thermoform than thicker polypropylene boards.
Black material provides an opaque base that can be useful for displays, packaging inserts, liners, covers and industrial components where light transmission is not required.
For printed products, black background color also creates a different visual effect from white or natural PP. The ink system and opacity should be selected according to the intended graphic result.
UV offset and screen printing are listed among the current processing options for this black PP sheet.
Polypropylene naturally has relatively low surface energy, so printing performance should be verified using the actual production sheet, ink system, curing conditions and required surface treatment.
For a black substrate, light-colored, metallic or sufficiently opaque inks may be needed where strong graphic contrast is required.
Untreated polypropylene should not automatically be assumed to provide sufficient ink adhesion for every printing process.
Where printing is required, buyers should specify the printing technology, ink chemistry, treated side and any required surface-energy or adhesion target. Corona treatment, flame treatment, primer or another application-specific method may be evaluated depending on the production requirement.
A production sample should be tested using the buyer's actual press, ink and curing settings before large-volume printing.
Matte is one of the listed surface options. A matte black surface can reduce reflected glare and provide a more subdued appearance for displays, packaging, folders, inserts and decorative fabricated products.
Where visual appearance is important, approve the actual surface texture and gloss level using a production sample because the term “matte” alone does not define a measurable gloss value.
Glossy black PP can be selected where a smoother, higher-sheen appearance is preferred for displays, packaging and decorative products.
Gloss-sensitive surfaces can show handling marks or scratches more readily, so buyers should define surface-protection and packing requirements where appearance is critical.
Textured surface options are also listed. Texture can change visual appearance, tactile feel, friction and printing behavior.
For textured sheet projects, provide an approved surface sample or clearly defined texture requirement before bulk production.
Vacuum forming is one of the applications listed for this product. Suitable PP grades can be heated and formed into trays, inserts, covers, packaging components and other three-dimensional parts.
The starting 1mm sheet does not remain uniformly 1mm after forming. Deep draws, corners and stretched areas can become thinner, so mold geometry and forming conditions must be considered when selecting the starting gauge.
Polypropylene can be thermoformed when the resin grade, sheet quality, heating profile and mold design are matched to the finished product.
For a new thermoforming project, provide finished dimensions, draw depth, mold geometry, corner radii, target wall thickness and current machine conditions so the material can be evaluated more accurately.
Color and thickness alone do not completely define polypropylene performance. The underlying PP resin grade can also affect rigidity, impact behavior and processing.
| PP Grade Direction | General Selection Consideration |
|---|---|
| PP Homopolymer | Generally considered where higher rigidity and dimensional stability are priorities under comparable conditions |
| PP Copolymer | Can be evaluated where improved impact behavior or lower-temperature toughness is required |
| Functional-Modified PP | Used where defined UV, antistatic, flame-retardant, impact-modified or other properties are required |
If resin type or impact performance is important to the finished product, include it in the purchasing specification rather than ordering only “1mm black PP.”
Signage and displays are included among the listed applications. The opaque black background can be used for retail inserts, point-of-purchase components, promotional panels and selected sign substrates.
For large unsupported panels, consider the 1mm sheet's flexibility, mounting points, span and expected handling conditions. Thicker material may be more appropriate where greater panel rigidity is required.
Black polypropylene can be converted into packaging inserts, reusable boxes, dividers, trays, covers and protective components where an opaque black appearance is preferred.
Packaging projects should specify cutting, scoring, folding, punching, welding or thermoforming requirements together with finished dimensions and loading conditions.
Black PP sheet can also be evaluated for liners, separators, protective covers, partitions and lightweight industrial fabricated components.
Where chemical exposure is involved, identify the exact chemical, concentration, service temperature, exposure duration and applied mechanical stress before approving the material.
Polypropylene is commonly selected for applications where low moisture absorption and resistance to many chemicals are useful.
Chemical resistance is not universal for every substance or condition. Compatibility should be checked against the actual chemical, concentration, temperature and contact duration.
Black color alone should not be treated as confirmation of long-term outdoor UV performance.
If the finished product will be used outdoors, specify UV-stabilized material, expected exposure period, temperature range and color-retention requirements. Confirm the exact grade before production.
Long-term color stability depends on pigment, masterbatch formulation, stabilizers, PP resin, processing conditions and environmental exposure.
For projects with defined color-retention requirements, use an approved production sample and specify indoor or outdoor service conditions rather than relying on an absolute “non-fading” claim.
| Thickness Direction | General Application Direction | Selection Consideration |
|---|---|---|
| 0.25–0.5mm | Flexible converting, stationery, lightweight packaging and thin thermoformed components | Flexibility, folding, opacity and processing method |
| 1mm | Printing, displays, packaging inserts, vacuum forming and lightweight fabricated parts | Balance of flexibility, shape retention and forming performance |
| 2–3mm | Larger panels, partitions, trays, covers and more rigid fabricated components | Panel span, rigidity, machining and finished weight |
| 4–5mm | Thicker fabricated panels and components requiring greater rigidity | Load, support, fabrication and welding requirements |
These thickness ranges are general selection directions rather than structural ratings. Final thickness should be chosen according to the finished product design.
1220 × 2440mm is the standard sheet size listed on the current product page and is approximately equivalent to a 4 × 8 ft panel.
The current detailed specification also lists widths up to 1600mm. Buyers requiring non-standard widths or cut dimensions should provide the required size together with thickness, surface and quantity.
