Product Description
HSQY PVC PVDC film is a thermoformable pharmaceutical blister material designed for tablets, capsules, nutraceuticals, and other moisture- or oxygen-sensitive solid-dose products. The rigid PVC layer provides forming stability and blister rigidity, while the PVDC coating improves protection against water vapor, oxygen, and aroma transmission.
PVC thickness, PVDC coating weight, roll width, color, core size, and winding direction can be matched to the buyer's blister design and packaging line. For accurate material selection, please provide the drug sensitivity, target barrier level, cavity depth, machine model, forming web width, lidding foil specification, and annual demand.
Recommended for: pharmaceutical blister packs for tablets, hard capsules, soft capsules, nutraceuticals, veterinary products, and selected healthcare products after application-specific validation.
Customization: PVC base thickness, PVDC coating weight, clear or colored film, slit width, roll diameter, core size, and packing method.
PVC PVDC film is a multilayer forming web used in pharmaceutical blister packaging. A non-plasticized rigid PVC film acts as the thermoformable support layer. A controlled PVDC coating is applied to increase moisture and oxygen barrier performance while retaining the transparency and processing advantages of PVC.
Compared with mono PVC blister film, PVC PVDC film is better suited to products that require stronger environmental protection during storage and distribution. The required PVDC coating level should be selected according to the formulation's sensitivity, target shelf life, blister cavity geometry, climate zone, sealing system, and validated packaging process.
| Structure | Main Function | Typical Application |
|---|---|---|
| PVC / PVDC Duplex | Combines rigid PVC thermoforming with an added moisture and oxygen barrier coating. | Standard to high-barrier blister packaging for tablets, capsules, and nutraceuticals. |
| PVC / PE / PVDC Triplex | Uses a PE intermediate layer to support improved forming behavior for deeper or more demanding cavities. | Deep-draw blister designs and products requiring a higher barrier structure. Available through the related composite film range. |
For extremely moisture-sensitive products, the final package may require a higher-barrier PVDC grade, PCTFE-based laminate, or cold-form aluminum structure. Material selection should be confirmed through stability studies and packaging-line trials.

Forming temperature, heating time, plug assistance, forming pressure, sealing temperature, sealing pressure, and dwell time depend on the film structure, PVC thickness, PVDC coating, cavity depth, machine design, line speed, and lidding foil. A universal processing window should not be used for every blister line.
HSQY recommends testing production-standard samples on the intended blister machine and checking cavity thickness distribution, web shrinkage, curl, coating integrity, seal strength, channel leaks, appearance, and barrier performance before commercial approval.
Documentation should be confirmed for the exact material grade and destination market. Depending on the specification and order, buyers may request a technical data sheet, certificate of analysis, safety data sheet, barrier test data, migration or extractables information, RoHS and REACH reports, color and dimension inspection records, and other agreed regulatory documents.
RoHS and REACH documents support restricted-substance and chemical-compliance review, but they do not by themselves establish suitability for pharmaceutical primary packaging. Please state any required pharmacopoeial, food-contact, quality-system, or customer-specific standard in the inquiry so HSQY can confirm the applicable documentation before order approval.

Mono PVC provides good thermoforming and blister rigidity but offers a relatively limited moisture and oxygen barrier. PVC PVDC film adds a PVDC coating to improve barrier performance while retaining the processing advantages of rigid PVC.
Select the coating level according to the drug's moisture and oxygen sensitivity, required shelf life, climate zone, blister cavity depth, expected coating thinning after forming, and target WVTR and OTR. Stability testing and machine trials should confirm the final grade.
Pharmaceutical rigid PVC forming webs are commonly supplied within a thinner roll-film range than general industrial PVC sheet. HSQY lists a typical pharmaceutical range of 0.20 mm to 0.45 mm, with the final thickness selected according to cavity size, rigidity, push-through performance, and machine requirements.
Yes. PVC PVDC forming film is commonly paired with compatible pharmaceutical PTP aluminum foil. The sealing lacquer, temperature, pressure, dwell time, line speed, and tooling must be validated together to achieve reliable seal strength and package integrity.
Duplex film normally uses a PVC/PVDC structure. Triplex film adds an intermediate layer, commonly PVC/PE/PVDC, to improve forming behavior for deeper cavities or more demanding structures. The correct option depends on draw depth, barrier target, and machine conditions.
Yes. Slit width, jumbo-roll width, clear or colored appearance, core diameter, maximum roll diameter, winding direction, and packaging can be customized after technical review and minimum-order confirmation.
Request the grade-specific TDS, COA, SDS, barrier test data, dimensional and appearance specification, and any required pharmacopoeial, food-contact, migration, restricted-substance, quality-system, or customer-specific documents. Document availability must be confirmed for the exact product and manufacturing site.
Sample availability depends on the required structure, thickness, coating weight, width, and color. Provide the blister machine details and current material specification so HSQY can recommend a more representative production-standard sample. Sample freight and special converting costs may apply.
The normal MOQ is approximately 1,000 to 2,000 kg, depending on the PVC thickness, PVDC coating weight, roll width, color, converting requirements, and whether the specification is standard or customized.
Standard orders may require approximately 7 to 15 days after specification approval and deposit receipt. Customized coatings, colors, widths, documentation, or large-volume orders may require a longer confirmed schedule.
Keep the rolls in their original protective packaging in a clean, dry indoor area away from direct sunlight, heat, moisture, dust, chemicals, and mechanical damage. Follow the grade-specific storage conditions, shelf life, and conditioning instructions provided with the approved material.
Send the required structure, PVC thickness, PVDC coating weight, roll width, core and roll diameter, color, winding direction, annual quantity, destination, machine model, lidding foil, barrier target, and required documentation through the HSQY contact page.
