PET/AL/PE is a multilayer flexible packaging structure consisting of an outer polyethylene terephthalate film, a middle aluminum foil barrier and an inner polyethylene heat-sealing layer.
The PET layer provides mechanical strength, dimensional stability and a printable surface. The aluminum foil provides the primary barrier against oxygen, water vapor and light. The PE layer provides flexibility, product-contact protection and heat-sealing performance.
The laminate is opaque because it contains true aluminum foil. Unprinted material normally has a silver metallic appearance, while finished packaging can be reverse printed with customized colors, graphics, product information and branding.

PET/AL/PE lamination film is a flexible packaging material produced by bonding polyester film, aluminum foil and polyethylene film or coating into a single multilayer structure.
The structure is selected when a product requires stronger protection against oxygen, moisture and light than an ordinary transparent plastic laminate can normally provide.
The films are normally bonded using a dry-lamination, solvent-free-lamination, extrusion-lamination or another approved converting process according to the required structure and performance.

Aluminum foil is the main barrier layer, but finished-package barrier performance cannot be determined from the material name alone.
Actual oxygen and water-vapor transmission depend on the foil thickness, pinholes, lamination quality, folding, flex cracking, pouch seals, valves, zippers and any mechanical damage.
OTR and WVTR values should be measured using the final approved laminate and agreed temperature and humidity conditions.
