Multilayer PA/PE/EVOH Film
Electronic Packaging Barrier Film
PA/PE/EVOH film is a multilayer coextruded or composite flexible packaging material that combines several polymers so that each layer performs a different function. Instead of relying on a single polymer for strength, sealing and barrier performance, the structure combines complementary materials into one film.
EVOH is particularly effective as an oxygen and gas barrier but its barrier performance can be affected by humidity. In a multilayer structure, PE and other protective layers help isolate the EVOH layer from direct environmental exposure while also contributing heat-sealing and water-vapor resistance.
This combination makes multilayer PA/EVOH/PE structures useful where buyers require transparency, mechanical toughness, puncture resistance and controlled gas transmission in one flexible packaging material.
The following specifications are based on the current HSQY product information. Final layer structure and technical performance should be confirmed according to the selected grade and application.

Polyamide, commonly called PA or nylon, contributes toughness, mechanical strength, abrasion resistance and puncture resistance. These properties are valuable when packaged components contain corners, leads or irregular shapes that may place mechanical stress on the film.
EVOH, or ethylene vinyl alcohol, provides the primary high oxygen and gas barrier function in the multilayer film. It is normally protected within the multilayer structure rather than being directly exposed as an unsupported single layer.
Polyethylene contributes flexibility, heat-sealing functionality and resistance to water-vapor transmission. The exact sealing window, seal strength and moisture-barrier performance depend on the selected film formulation, gauge and converting conditions.
Tie or adhesive-resin layers bond polymers such as PA, EVOH, PP and PE together because these materials do not naturally adhere equally well to one another. The result is an integrated multilayer film structure.
High Oxygen Barrier: The internal EVOH layer provides strong resistance to oxygen and other gas transmission when incorporated into a suitable multilayer structure.
Moisture Resistance: PE layers contribute water-vapor resistance and help protect the EVOH barrier layer from direct humidity exposure.
Puncture Resistance: PA improves toughness and resistance to puncture, helping maintain package integrity around components with edges or irregular shapes.
High Transparency: Clear multilayer construction allows packaged products or components to remain visible for inspection and identification where transparent packaging is preferred.
Heat-Sealing Capability: PE sealant layers support heat-sealed packaging. The required seal temperature, dwell time and pressure should be confirmed according to the selected film and packaging equipment.
Wide Thickness Range: Thicknesses from 0.045mm to 0.35mm allow the material to be considered for different packaging formats and mechanical-performance requirements.
Wide Roll Width: Widths from 160mm to 2600mm help support different converting and packaging equipment configurations.
Custom Multilayer Structure: Film structure and specification can be discussed according to barrier, sealing, mechanical and converting requirements.
Electronic Components: Suitable for selected electronic components that require transparent flexible packaging with oxygen, moisture and mechanical-barrier properties.
IC-Related Components: Can be evaluated for components and assemblies where environmental barrier protection is needed, provided any required ESD or static-control specification is separately confirmed.
LED Light Strips and Lighting Components: Transparent film allows product visibility while helping protect products during storage, handling and transportation.
Automotive Electronic Parts: PA-based multilayer films provide useful toughness for selected automotive components and accessories where flexible barrier packaging is required.
Industrial Components: The material can also be considered for non-food industrial goods requiring transparent, puncture-resistant and high-barrier flexible packaging.
Discuss Your Electronic Packaging Application
Standard PA/PE/EVOH high barrier film should not automatically be considered an ESD shielding bag, anti-static film or static-dissipative packaging unless the selected product has specifically been designed and tested for those electrical properties.
Some semiconductor, PCB and moisture-sensitive-device packaging applications require specifications such as surface resistance, static dissipation, electrostatic shielding, MVTR and compliance with specific ESD or dry-packaging standards. If your application has these requirements, provide the exact electrical and moisture-barrier specification to HSQY before ordering.
For applications that primarily require transparency, oxygen barrier, water-vapor resistance, puncture resistance and heat sealing without a specified ESD shielding requirement, PA/PE/EVOH multilayer film may provide an appropriate packaging solution after technical evaluation.
| Selection Factor | PA/PE/EVOH Film | Foil ESD Moisture Barrier Bag |
|---|---|---|
| Transparency | Clear versions available | Usually opaque or metallic |
| Oxygen Barrier | High barrier using EVOH | Typically very high depending on foil structure |
| Moisture Barrier | Depends on PE layers, thickness and structure | Designed for very low moisture transmission in appropriate grades |
| ESD Shielding | Not automatic; must be specifically designed and tested | Available in purpose-designed ESD shielding structures |
| Product Visibility | Good for visual inspection | Usually limited |
| Typical Selection | Transparent high-barrier flexible packaging | Moisture-sensitive and static-sensitive electronics requiring specified ESD protection |
Determine whether your project has a specified oxygen transmission rate, water-vapor transmission rate or storage-life requirement. If OTR or WVTR values are stated in your technical specification, provide the target value together with the required test method.
If the packed electronic component is static sensitive, specify whether you need anti-static, static-dissipative or electrostatic-shielding performance. These are different electrical functions and should not be assumed from barrier-film composition alone.
HSQY currently lists a thickness range of 0.045mm to 0.35mm. Thicker film may provide additional mechanical robustness, while the correct gauge should be determined by package format, component shape, sealing process and performance requirements.
Provide the required roll width, roll diameter, core size and equipment information where applicable. HSQY currently lists widths from 160mm to 2600mm.
Tell HSQY how the film will be sealed, including packaging-machine type, sealing surface, temperature range and required seal strength when available. This helps determine whether the selected sealant structure is suitable.
Components with sharp corners, terminals, leads or irregular geometry may require greater puncture resistance. Send photographs, drawings or samples where possible so the packaging requirement can be evaluated more accurately.
For engineering and electronics packaging projects, product selection should ideally be based on measurable performance data rather than material name alone. Ask for the relevant technical data for the specific film grade being quoted.

PA/PE/EVOH film is a multilayer flexible packaging material combining polyamide, polyethylene and EVOH barrier resin. PA contributes mechanical strength, EVOH provides oxygen barrier performance and PE contributes sealing and water-vapor resistance.
EVOH has very low oxygen permeability compared with many common packaging polymers. In multilayer packaging, it is normally protected between other polymers because humidity can affect its oxygen-barrier performance.
It can be suitable for selected electronic and industrial components requiring transparent high-barrier and puncture-resistant flexible packaging. The correct film should be selected according to the component, required OTR or WVTR, sealing method and any electrical-protection requirements.
Not automatically. Standard PA/PE/EVOH composition does not by itself prove anti-static, static-dissipative or ESD shielding performance. If your electronic device requires ESD protection, provide the required surface resistance, shielding or applicable ESD standard before ordering.
PE and other outer layers can contribute water-vapor resistance, while EVOH primarily provides oxygen and gas barrier performance. For moisture-sensitive electronics, the required WVTR or MVTR should be specified and verified for the actual film grade.
HSQY currently lists thicknesses from 0.045mm to 0.35mm. Customized thickness can be discussed according to packaging format, mechanical strength and barrier requirements.
The current product specification lists widths from 160mm to 2600mm. Provide your machine width, required roll dimensions and core specification when requesting a quotation.
Customized film structures can be discussed according to the required barrier performance, sealing surface, mechanical strength, thickness and processing method. Final feasibility should be confirmed before production.
PE-based sealant layers can support heat sealing. The correct sealing temperature, pressure, dwell time and seal strength depend on the film structure and packaging machine, so testing before mass production is recommended.
Yes. Samples can be discussed for checking transparency, thickness, sealing, mechanical properties and compatibility with your packaging process. Provide your required structure, thickness, width and application when requesting a sample.
Please provide the packed product, film thickness, width, roll dimensions, barrier requirement, heat-sealing requirement, quantity, destination and whether ESD or anti-static performance is required. OTR, WVTR or technical drawings are especially useful when available.
