Product Description
A matte clear PVC sheet is a transparent or translucent polyvinyl chloride sheet with a non-glossy, frosted or finely textured surface. The surface diffuses reflected light, reduces distracting reflections and creates a softer visual appearance than polished clear PVC.
Depending on the PVC formulation and thickness, matte clear PVC can be supplied as flexible film, semi-rigid sheet or rigid sheet. Flexible grades are commonly used for overlays, covers and fabricated products, while firmer grades are selected for printing, packaging, display panels, stationery, partitions and die-cut components.
HSQY Plastic Group supplies matte clear PVC sheets in thicknesses from 0.10 mm to 2 mm. Standard and customized sheet dimensions are available for packaging converters, printers, display manufacturers, stationery producers, plastic fabricators and wholesale distributors.
Transparency, haze, surface texture, flexibility and rigidity vary according to the formulation, thickness and production finish. Buyers should provide the intended application, required dimensions, processing method and target appearance before ordering.

The matte surface produces less visible reflection than a highly polished PVC surface. This can improve viewing comfort in displays, printed overlays, menu covers and other glare-sensitive applications.
Light can pass through the material while the textured surface reduces the visibility of fine details behind it. The actual privacy level depends on haze, thickness, lighting, viewing distance and the brightness on each side.
Fingerprints, minor surface marks and light handling scratches are generally less noticeable on a textured matte finish than on a polished transparent surface.
PVC formulation and thickness can be adjusted to achieve different bending and stiffness characteristics. This allows the material to be used in flexible overlays, semi-rigid packaging and more dimensionally stable display components.
Appropriate grades can be cut, die cut, printed, folded, laminated or formed into finished components. Processing conditions should be validated using the buyer's actual equipment and tooling.
HSQY can discuss customized thicknesses, sheet dimensions, surface texture, transparency, color, protective film and packaging according to project requirements and production feasibility.
PVC can provide a practical balance of visual appearance, fabrication performance, dimensional stability and material cost for commercial and high-volume applications.
The terms matte, frosted and dusted are sometimes used interchangeably, but they may describe different surface structures. Buyers should approve an actual sample instead of selecting material only by the surface name.
| Surface Type | Typical Appearance | Typical Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Glossy Clear | Smooth, polished and highly reflective | Maximum direct visibility, clear packaging windows and polished displays |
| Matte Clear | Fine non-glossy texture with reduced reflection | Printed overlays, covers, signs, displays and low-reflection surfaces |
| Frosted Clear | More visible light diffusion and greater visual obscuration | Privacy panels, decorative packaging, lampshades and translucent inserts |
| Dusted or Light-Dust | Lightly textured surface that may remain relatively clear | Reducing blocking or sticking between sheets and improving material handling |
| Heavy Frosted | Stronger haze and reduced object visibility | Decorative privacy, stronger diffusion and applications where direct visibility is not required |
Surface terminology and haze levels are not standardized across every supplier. Provide a reference sample, photograph or target optical requirement when a precise appearance is important.
| Comparison | Matte Clear PVC Sheet | Glossy Clear PVC Sheet |
|---|---|---|
| Surface | Frosted, textured or non-glossy | Smooth and polished |
| Reflection | Lower visible reflection | Higher visible reflection |
| Visibility | Diffused or partially obscured | Clearer direct visibility |
| Fingerprint Visibility | Generally less noticeable | Generally more noticeable |
| Printed Appearance | Softer visual effect with reduced reflected glare | High-gloss appearance with stronger reflected highlights |
| Typical Uses | Privacy panels, printed overlays, decorative packaging, signage and displays | Clear windows, transparent packaging, protective covers and polished displays |
Matte PVC is normally selected when reduced reflection, visual diffusion or a softer surface appearance is important. Glossy clear PVC is more suitable when direct visibility and a polished transparent appearance are the primary requirements.
| PVC Type | General Characteristics | Typical Applications |
|---|---|---|
| Flexible Matte PVC | Pliable material that bends and rolls easily | Flexible covers, overlays, protective layers and fabricated film products |
| Semi-Rigid Matte PVC | Balance of flexibility and dimensional stability | Packaging, stationery, printing, folders, covers and display components |
| Rigid Matte PVC | Greater stiffness and shape retention | Signage, retail displays, partitions, panels and fabricated plastic parts |
Thickness alone does not determine rigidity. Plasticizer level, formulation, processing method and service temperature also affect how the finished sheet bends and performs.
Matte clear PVC sheet is used in commercial and industrial products that require a balance of light transmission, reduced reflection, surface texture, fabrication performance and economical material cost.
Frosted PVC can be used for office dividers, counter screens, decorative partitions and translucent panels where light transmission is required but direct detailed visibility should be reduced.
Suitable matte grades can be used for printed overlays, graphic panels, menu covers, labels, decorative inserts and low-reflection printed surfaces.
The material can be converted into product-display panels, shelf components, signs, promotional structures and translucent visual-merchandising elements.
Matte PVC may be used for translucent folding boxes, packaging windows, protective sleeves, internal inserts and specialty presentation packaging after folding, bonding and printing compatibility are tested.
Common applications include book covers, document covers, dividers, folders, notebook components, menu covers and other stationery products requiring a textured translucent finish.
Frosted PVC can be used for lampshade components, decorative inserts and light-diffusing panels when the thermal conditions and applicable safety requirements are suitable for PVC.
Customized sheets can be cut or die cut into protective overlays, covers, separators, visual panels and other fabricated plastic components.
Applications involving outdoor exposure, high heat, food contact, medical use, flame requirements or aggressive chemicals require a dedicated formulation and supporting technical documentation.

Printing compatibility depends on surface energy, surface texture, ink chemistry, curing method and the required image appearance. Screen printing, UV printing, offset printing and other processes should be tested using the buyer's actual ink and equipment.
Cutting pressure, blade condition, sheet temperature, thickness and rigidity affect edge quality. Production trials should verify dimensional accuracy, edge cracking and surface protection.
Folding performance depends on formulation, thickness, score depth, folding radius and processing temperature. Unsuitable conditions may cause whitening, cracking or permanent deformation.
Some grades can be heat formed or vacuum formed. The heating cycle, mold design and cooling conditions should be tested because forming can change the original matte texture, transparency and thickness distribution.
Adhesives, tapes, inks and laminating films must be compatible with PVC and the selected surface finish. Bond strength, appearance and long-term compatibility should be verified before mass production.
A physical sample should be approved before a customized bulk order. The following items can be evaluated according to the application:
Thickness and dimensional tolerance.
Matte texture, haze and transparency.
Single-side or double-side surface appearance.
Color consistency between sheets or production batches.
Flexibility, rigidity and spring-back.
Printing adhesion, color appearance and curing performance.
Cutting, die-cutting and edge quality.
Folding, forming, welding, gluing or laminating performance.
Scratch visibility and protective-film suitability.
Performance under the expected temperature and service environment.
HSQY can manufacture matte clear PVC sheets according to the required thickness, sheet dimensions, surface appearance and order quantity. Standard sizes can simplify production, while custom dimensions may reduce secondary cutting and material waste.
Buyers may specify the required haze level, transparency, color, surface texture, rigidity, protective film and processing method. A reference sample is recommended when the visual finish must match an existing product.
HSQY recommends approving a sample or trial-production batch before placing a large customized order, particularly for printing, folding, forming, lamination or automated processing.

It is a transparent or translucent PVC sheet with a textured, non-glossy surface. The texture reduces visible reflection and diffuses the view through the material.
The terms are often used for similar products, but frosted PVC may have stronger haze or a more visible texture. Surface terminology differs among manufacturers, so a physical sample should be approved.
Matte PVC is generally selected for a non-reflective visual finish. A dusted or light-dust surface may primarily be used to reduce blocking or sticking between adjacent sheets while maintaining relatively high transparency.
It allows light to pass through, but the textured surface diffuses the view. Fine details become less clear as the haze or texture increases.
No. Matte PVC can obscure details, but it is not normally fully opaque. Privacy depends on lighting, viewing distance, thickness and surface haze.
The matte surface can reduce visible glare compared with glossy PVC. It should not automatically be considered a certified optical anti-glare material unless specific optical performance has been tested.
Surface configuration depends on the selected product and manufacturing process. Buyers should specify whether they require one matte side, two matte sides or a matte-and-glossy combination.
It can be flexible, semi-rigid or rigid depending on the PVC formulation and thickness. Provide the required bending behavior or finished application when requesting a recommendation.
HSQY lists thicknesses from 0.10 mm to 2 mm. Availability, tolerance and MOQ should be confirmed for each customized thickness.
Standard sizes include 700 × 1000 mm, 750 × 1050 mm, 915 × 1830 mm and 1220 × 2440 mm. Customized dimensions are available according to production feasibility.
Suitable grades can be printed, but adhesion and image appearance depend on the ink system, surface texture and curing conditions. Test the actual printing process before production.
Yes, suitable grades can be die cut. Blade condition, cutting pressure, material temperature, thickness and rigidity affect edge quality and should be validated.
Some grades can be folded, heat formed or vacuum formed. Processing can change the matte texture or transparency, so tooling and temperature should be tested before mass production.
Protective film can be discussed for selected products when additional scratch protection is required during transportation, printing, cutting or assembly.
Standard grades are generally selected for indoor or controlled environments. Outdoor projects may require UV-stabilized formulations and testing for sunlight, temperature and weather exposure.
It can be used for selected decorative lampshade components, but operating temperature, distance from the light source, flame requirements and applicable safety standards must be evaluated.
Suitability depends on the exact PVC formulation and destination-market regulations. Food-contact, pharmaceutical or medical requirements must be specified before ordering.
PVC and acrylic are different materials with different rigidity, optical performance, impact behavior, fabrication methods, service temperatures and costs. Material selection should be based on the finished application rather than appearance alone.
Use a soft cloth with water or a mild neutral cleaner. Avoid abrasive pads and strong solvents unless chemical compatibility has been tested.
The standard minimum order quantity is 1000 kg. The MOQ may vary for customized thicknesses, dimensions, colors, surfaces or formulations.
Yes. A4 samples can be supplied for evaluating surface texture, transparency, thickness, rigidity and processing performance. Sample freight is normally collected.
Typical production time is approximately 7-15 days after the specification and deposit are confirmed. Customized grades, large orders and special packaging may require additional time.
Provide the thickness, width, length, matte surface, haze, transparency, rigidity, quantity, application, processing method, protective-film requirement, destination and compliance requirements.
