Product Description
HSQY manufactures 0.5mm natural polypropylene sheets for stationery, folding boxes, packaging inserts, printing, advertising materials, electronic insulation, thermoforming, templates and general plastic conversion.
The featured 0.5mm PP sheet provides a practical balance of flexibility, impact resistance, low weight and foldability. It can be die cut, punched, scored, folded, heat sealed, thermoformed and printed after suitable surface treatment.
Available thicknesses range from approximately 0.25mm to 5mm, with widths from approximately 300mm to 1700mm and standard sheet sizes including 915 × 1830mm, 1220 × 2440mm, 1560 × 3050mm and other customized dimensions.
Natural polypropylene normally has a milky, translucent or semi-transparent appearance rather than glass-like clarity. White, black, transparent-colored, translucent and opaque customized colors are also available.
Smooth, matte, twill, striped and embossed surfaces can be supplied for folders, notebook covers, packaging boxes, dividers, advertising panels and other converted products.
Food-contact, medical, antistatic, conductive, UV-stabilized and flame-retardant PP sheets require separate formulations and grade-specific documentation. These properties should not be assumed for standard natural PP sheet.

A natural polypropylene sheet is a solid thermoplastic sheet manufactured from uncolored or lightly modified polypropylene resin.
Natural PP normally appears milky white, translucent or semi-transparent. It does not generally provide the water-clear appearance associated with transparent PET, PVC, acrylic or polycarbonate.
Polypropylene is a semi-crystalline polyolefin with low density, low water absorption, useful chemical resistance and good electrical-insulation characteristics.
At 0.5mm thickness, the material remains flexible enough for scoring, folding, die cutting and curved products while providing more body and stiffness than thin flexible packaging film.
Natural PP sheet is also described as translucent PP sheet, thin polypropylene sheet, rigid PP film, solid PP sheet, PP plate or polypropylene plastic sheet.

| PP Block Copolymer / PP-B | Improved impact resistance and better performance at lower temperatures | Impact-resistant packaging, reusable boxes and cold-environment products |
| PP Random Copolymer / PP-R | Improved clarity and flexibility compared with many standard homopolymer grades | Clearer packaging, formed products and applications prioritizing appearance |
The correct grade depends on stiffness, transparency, impact, temperature, folding, forming and cost requirements. Buyers should approve the actual resin and production sample before bulk ordering.
| Application | Why 0.5mm PP Is Used | Main Checks |
|---|---|---|
| Folders and Notebook Covers | Flexible, durable and available with matte or embossed surfaces | Creasing, folding, riveting, printing and scratch resistance |
| Folding Boxes | Can be scored, die cut and folded into reusable packaging | Crease quality, hinge life, heat sealing and closure design |
| Packaging Inserts | Lightweight, moisture resistant and easy to cut | Dimensions, stiffness, product compatibility and migration requirements |
| Templates and Pattern Sheets | Flexible but more durable than paper or cardboard | Dimensional stability, edge quality and marking compatibility |
| Electronic Insulation | Standard PP provides useful electrical-insulation characteristics | Dielectric data, temperature, flame rating and component design |
| Thermoformed Packaging | Thin-gauge PP can be formed into trays, inserts and covers | Heating profile, shrinkage, wall distribution and mold release |
A smooth surface is used for packaging inserts, printed sheets, electronic insulation and products requiring a clean appearance.
Matte PP reduces surface reflection and visible fingerprints and is commonly selected for folders, covers, boxes and stationery products.
A twill texture provides a woven visual effect, improves handling and helps conceal minor scratches.
Embossed patterns can differentiate branded stationery, packaging boxes, placemats, decorative panels and promotional products.
Polypropylene has relatively low surface energy, so untreated PP may provide insufficient adhesion for some inks, coatings and adhesives.
Printing-grade sheets can be supplied with corona treatment, flame treatment or primer according to the ink and printing method.
| Printing Method | Typical Products | Required Checks |
|---|---|---|
| Screen Printing | Signs, folders, boxes, templates and industrial labels | Ink chemistry, treatment level, curing and scratch resistance |
| UV Printing | Customized graphics, retail displays and short-run products | UV energy, ink flexibility, adhesion and sheet distortion |
| Offset Printing | Stationery, covers, cards and packaging | Static control, ink formulation, drying and post-print folding |
| Flexographic Printing | Roll products, labels and high-volume packaging sheets | Treated side, ink system, web tension and treatment decay |
| Digital Printing | Samples, prototypes and personalized products | Printer compatibility, primer requirement and ink adhesion |
Surface treatment can decrease during storage. Buyers should specify the required treatment level, treated side, packing method and expected time between production and printing.
Thin polypropylene sheet is frequently selected for products that require repeated flexing, folding or integrated hinge sections.
A properly designed crease can function as a living hinge in folders, boxes, lids and reusable packaging.
Hinge performance depends on PP grade, molecular orientation, sheet thickness, crease geometry, folding direction, temperature and number of cycles.
Die-cutting tools, crease rules and folding equipment should be tested using the actual production sheet before mass production.
Suitable PP sheets can be vacuum formed or thermoformed into packaging trays, inserts, lids and industrial components.
PP has a narrower thermoforming window than some amorphous plastics and can shrink or warp if heating and cooling are not properly controlled.
The machine heater profile, sheet temperature, mold design, cavity depth, plug assistance, cooling time and finished-wall thickness should be validated.
Heat sealing, ultrasonic welding and other joining methods may be evaluated according to the sheet grade and completed product.
| Grade | Main Function | Typical Applications | Required Confirmation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard Natural PP | General-purpose electrically insulating sheet | Stationery, packaging, templates and general fabrication | Thickness, resin grade, color and processing |
| Antistatic PP | Helps reduce electrostatic charge accumulation | Electronic packaging, trays and clean handling | Surface resistivity, humidity, service life and cleanliness |
| Conductive PP | Provides controlled electrical conductivity | ESD packaging, electronic components and industrial equipment | Volume resistivity, surface resistivity and grounding design |
| Flame-Retardant PP | Modified burning behavior under a specified test | Electrical insulation, appliances and regulated components | Exact test standard, rating, thickness, color and orientation |
Standard polypropylene is not inherently antistatic, conductive or fireproof. Each special property requires a defined formulation and applicable test data.
Polypropylene is widely used in food packaging, but standard natural PP sheet should not automatically be described as food-grade for every country and use condition.
Food-contact suitability depends on the exact resin, additives, colorants, recycled content, processing conditions, food type, contact temperature and contact duration.
Buyers should identify the destination market and request documentation applicable to the exact material and application.
Medical applications may require controlled raw materials, traceability, cleanliness, biocompatibility-related evaluation, sterilization compatibility and application-specific regulatory documents.
A general SGS report or ISO quality-management certificate does not automatically establish food-contact or medical compliance.
Natural PP sheet provides useful resistance to many diluted acids, alkalis and aqueous chemical solutions.
Chemical compatibility depends on concentration, temperature, exposure time, mechanical stress and the exact polypropylene grade.
Standard unfilled PP is electrically insulating and can be used for separators, gaskets and covers after the required dielectric, tracking and temperature performance has been verified.
A compatibility test should be completed before using PP with aggressive chemicals, solvents, oils, cleaning products or elevated temperatures.
Standard natural polypropylene sheet is primarily recommended for indoor stationery, packaging, templates, industrial liners and converted products.
Long-term exposure to sunlight can cause fading, chalking, embrittlement and loss of mechanical performance in unstabilized PP.
Outdoor signs, tags and components should use a UV-stabilized grade developed for the intended exposure period and climate.
A 0.5mm sheet normally requires a frame, backing or supporting structure and should not be treated as a self-supporting road sign or architectural partition.
| Material | Main Characteristics | Typical Applications | Important Considerations |
|---|---|---|---|
| Polypropylene / PP | Lightweight, flexible, chemically resistant and suitable for repeated folding | Folders, boxes, templates, packaging, thermoforming and living hinges | Lower surface energy requires treatment for many printing and bonding processes |
| Rigid PVC | Greater clarity and rigidity with established printing and folding-box use | Clear boxes, binding covers, printing sheets and blister packaging | Heavier than PP and requires PVC-specific recycling and processing controls |
| PET | High clarity, stiffness and dimensional stability | Transparent packaging, printing, blisters and thermoformed trays | Less suitable than PP for repeated living-hinge flexing |
