Fire Resistance Polycarbonate Sheet Film
HSQY flame retardant polycarbonate film is designed for electrical insulation, electronics, battery packs, power supplies and industrial components that require a combination of flame-retardant performance, impact resistance, dimensional stability and electrical insulation.
Available in natural, black and customized colors, the material can be supplied with polished, matte, fine velvet and velvet surface combinations. Film thicknesses range from 0.05mm to 0.5mm, while sheet options range from 0.25mm to 1.2mm.
For safety-critical projects, flame-retardant performance should always be confirmed for the exact material grade and thickness. If your project requires UL 94 V-0, VTM-0 or another defined flammability classification, include the required rating and test thickness in your inquiry.

Flammability Note: A flame-retardant material should not be described as completely fireproof. Flame classification depends on the exact formulation, thickness and test method. Please specify the required UL 94 classification or other applicable standard when requesting a quotation.
Flame retardant polycarbonate film is a specialty PC material formulated to reduce flammability while retaining the mechanical, thermal and electrical properties required for electronic and industrial applications.
Unlike general-purpose clear polycarbonate film, flame-retardant grades are selected when the film forms part of an electrical insulation system, battery assembly, power supply, printed circuit board assembly or another product with defined fire-safety requirements.
Depending on the grade, the film can also be die-cut, punched, folded, bent or formed into insulating barriers, spacers, gaskets and protective components.
Flammability ratings for thin plastic films are thickness dependent. A material that achieves a particular classification at one thickness should not automatically be assumed to achieve the same classification at every thinner gauge.
For thin electrical insulation films, buyers commonly specify ratings such as UL 94 V-0 or VTM-0. The applicable classification, minimum tested thickness and supporting documentation should be confirmed for the exact HSQY material grade selected for the project.
| Project Requirement | What to Confirm |
|---|---|
| Flammability Standard | UL 94 or another required fire-test standard |
| Required Classification | V-0, VTM-0 or another specified rating where applicable |
| Material Thickness | Required film thickness and minimum tested thickness for the rating |
| Color | Natural, black or custom color required by the application |
| Documentation | Required test reports, certificates or material documentation |
Flame-retardant performance: Specialty formulations are available for applications with defined flammability requirements.
Electrical insulation: Polycarbonate film is suitable for electrical barriers, spacers and insulation components when the correct grade is selected.
Impact resistance: PC provides strong mechanical toughness for demanding electronic and industrial assemblies.
Dimensional stability: Helps maintain component geometry during converting, assembly and service.
Temperature performance: Suitable grades provide useful dimensional and mechanical stability at elevated temperatures.
Thin-gauge availability: Film thicknesses start from 0.05mm for compact electrical and electronic designs.
Multiple textures: Polished, matte and velvet combinations are available for functional and appearance requirements.
Fabrication options: Suitable grades can be die-cut, punched, folded or formed according to component design.
Electrical insulation is one of the main uses of flame-retardant polycarbonate film. Thin PC film can be converted into barriers, spacers, gaskets and protective insulation components positioned between conductive parts or around heat-generating electronic components.
For electrical applications, flame performance should be evaluated together with dielectric properties, operating voltage, insulation distance, temperature, component geometry and applicable product-safety standards.
| Electrical Application | Typical Function |
|---|---|
| Power Supply Insulation | Electrical and thermal barrier between internal components |
| PCB Insulation | Die-cut barrier or protective spacer around printed circuit assemblies |
| Busbar Insulation | Barrier around conductive busbar systems where the selected grade meets project requirements |
| Insulation Gaskets | Die-cut isolation between electrical or mechanical components |
| Power Electronics | Thin insulating barriers near heat-generating components |
Battery systems contain closely spaced electrical components and may require thin insulating barriers between cells, modules, busbars, BMS components and enclosure structures. Flame-retardant PC film can be considered for selected battery insulation components where its mechanical, electrical and fire-performance characteristics match the system requirements.
Material selection for an EV or energy-storage battery pack should not be based on flammability alone. The engineering team should also consider dielectric requirements, operating temperature, mechanical compression, chemical exposure, assembly method and the applicable battery-system safety standards.
| Battery Area | Possible Film Function |
|---|---|
| Cell / Module Isolation | Thin electrical barrier between selected components |
| Busbar Area | Electrical insulation or protective barrier |
| BMS Components | Insulating spacers, covers or die-cut protective components |
| Pack Interior | Electrical and flame-retardant isolation according to system design |
| Surface | Typical Characteristic |
|---|---|
| Polished / Polished | Smooth surfaces for selected visual or printed applications |
| Matte / Polished | One matte side with one smoother polished side |
| Fine Velvet / Matte | Low-glare textured surface suitable for internal electrical parts |
| Velvet / Matte | Textured finish for functional insulation components |
| Velvet / Fine Velvet | Textured surfaces on both sides for selected internal applications |
Black flame-retardant film is commonly selected for internal insulation components where optical appearance is less important. Natural or other customized colors can also be evaluated according to the required grade, thickness and order quantity.
Thin flame-retardant PC film can be converted into electrical insulation components using processes such as die cutting, punching, scoring and folding when the selected material grade and thickness are suitable.
For precision insulation parts, provide the finished drawing, hole positions, bend lines, dimensional tolerances and required film orientation. Prototype testing is recommended before large-volume production when the part includes tight bends, small holes or complex geometry.

Flame Retardant Polycarbonate Films Data Sheet
Flame retardant polycarbonate film is a specialty PC material designed to provide reduced flammability together with electrical insulation, mechanical toughness, dimensional stability and processing capability.
No. Flame retardant does not mean completely fireproof. The material is designed to meet defined flame-performance requirements under specific test conditions. Its classification depends on the material grade, thickness and test method.
UL 94 performance should be confirmed for the exact material grade and thickness required by your project. If V-0, VTM-0 or another classification is mandatory, provide the required rating and thickness so the applicable material and documentation can be checked before ordering.
Flame-test performance can change as material thickness changes. A classification achieved at one thickness should therefore not automatically be applied to a thinner material unless that thickness is covered by the relevant test or certification.
HSQY currently lists flame retardant PC film from 0.05mm to 0.5mm and sheet from 0.25mm to 1.2mm. Availability depends on grade, width, color, texture and required flame performance.
Standard film widths include 930mm and 1220mm. Standard sheet widths include 915mm and 1000mm. Customized widths can be discussed for qualified orders.
Yes, suitable grades can be used for electrical barriers, spacers, gaskets, power-supply insulation and other die-cut insulating components. The selected material should match the electrical, thermal and flame requirements of the finished system.
Suitable flame-retardant PC grades can be evaluated for battery-pack electrical insulation components such as barriers, spacers and protective internal parts. Final suitability depends on voltage, temperature, compression, chemical exposure, flame requirements and the complete battery design.
Suitable thin PC film grades can be die-cut, punched, scored and fabricated into insulation components. Provide the drawing and dimensional tolerances for precision die-cut applications.
Available options currently include polished/polished, matte/polished, fine velvet/matte, velvet/matte and velvet/fine velvet surfaces.
The current minimum order quantity is 1000kg. Sample availability can be discussed before bulk purchasing.
Please provide the application, thickness, width or dimensions, required flame classification, electrical requirements, color, texture, processing method, documentation requirements, order quantity and destination.
