Plastic Sauce Cup
HSQY black PP portion cups with clear PET lids are disposable foodservice containers designed for sauces, condiments, salad dressings, dips, toppings, samples and other controlled food portions.
The current HSSC-B range includes seven capacities from 0.75 oz to 5.5 oz, allowing restaurants, foodservice distributors, takeaway operators, catering companies and meal-preparation businesses to select different portion sizes while maintaining a consistent black-cup and clear-lid presentation.
The cup is manufactured from polypropylene (PP), while the current matching clear lid is PET. PP provides useful toughness and flexibility for foodservice applications, while the transparent lid allows staff and customers to identify the contents without opening the package.
HSQY currently offers 0.75 oz, 1 oz, 1.5 oz, 2 oz, 3.25 oz, 4 oz and 5.5 oz sizes. Different capacities are grouped around 45mm, 62mm and 74mm top diameters, which can simplify cup-and-lid inventory planning when exact lid compatibility is confirmed for the selected models.

Based on the current HSQY dimensions, the seven cup capacities use three main top-diameter families. This can help distributors and foodservice buyers simplify inventory and lid management.
| Top Diameter | Current Cup Capacities | Purchasing Benefit |
|---|---|---|
| 45mm | 0.75 oz and 1 oz | Two small portion sizes within one rim-size family |
| 62mm | 1.5 oz and 2 oz | Common sauce and dressing sizes within one rim-size family |
| 74mm | 3.25 oz, 4 oz and 5.5 oz | Three larger portion sizes within one rim-size family |
Exact lid interchangeability should be confirmed with HSQY before placing an order, particularly when combining multiple cup capacities in one distribution program.
Polypropylene provides a useful combination of flexibility, toughness and resistance to cracking during normal foodservice handling. Final performance depends on cup wall thickness, resin grade and storage conditions.
The transparent PET lid allows foodservice staff and customers to identify sauces, condiments and other portions without opening the cup.
A correctly matched lid provides a secure closure that helps reduce accidental spills during normal takeaway and delivery handling. Finished-package leak resistance should be tested with the actual product, particularly for thin sauces and liquids.
Seven capacities allow restaurants and foodservice operators to standardize serving quantities for sauces, dressings, dips, toppings and side items, helping support consistent portion management.
The black cup creates visual contrast with mayonnaise, ranch dressing, salsa, guacamole, desserts and other colorful food products, while the clear lid keeps the contents visible.
Portion cups can be nested before filling to reduce storage space and support efficient preparation in restaurant kitchens, central kitchens and catering operations.
The compact single-use format is suitable for takeaway, delivery, catering, meal preparation and other applications where washing and returning reusable containers is impractical.
Polypropylene is commonly used for microwave-compatible food containers, but microwave suitability must be confirmed for the actual PP resin grade, cup wall thickness, food temperature, microwave power and heating time.
The current HSQY product uses a PP cup with a PET lid. The microwave performance of the cup and lid should therefore be considered separately.
Do not assume the PET lid has the same microwave resistance as the PP cup. Unless HSQY specifically supplies a lid qualified for microwave use, remove the PET lid before microwave heating and follow the approved instructions for the PP cup.
Use small portion cups for ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, barbecue sauce, hot sauce, soy sauce and other restaurant condiments.
Portion cups allow dressings to remain separate from salads during takeaway and delivery, allowing the customer to add dressing at the point of consumption.
Suitable applications include salsa, hummus, guacamole, cheese dip, yogurt-based dips, cream cheese and other portioned spreads.
Small lidded containers are useful for keeping side sauces and condiments separate from the main takeaway meal during transport.
Portion cups can be packed inside or alongside meal-preparation trays and boxed lunches for sauces, toppings, dressings and garnishes.
Catering companies can pre-portion sauces, dips, butter, toppings and condiments to improve service speed and portion consistency.
Smaller capacities can be used for food sampling, product demonstrations, tastings and promotional food events.
Larger 3.25 oz, 4 oz and 5.5 oz cups can also be evaluated for small dessert portions, fruit toppings, nuts, garnishes and other side items.
| Feature | PP Portion Cup | PET Portion Cup |
|---|---|---|
| Toughness | Flexible and resistant to cracking during normal handling | More rigid, depending on design and grade |
| Clarity | Can be translucent, opaque or colored | Commonly selected when high transparency is important |
| Microwave Potential | Suitable PP grades can support microwave use after validation | Standard PET should not automatically be assumed microwaveable |
| Black Cup Options | Common for sauces and foodservice portions | Possible but PET is frequently selected for clear presentation |
| Typical Selection | Sauces, condiments, hot/cold sides and takeaway portions | Cold applications where clarity is a primary requirement |
Choose the cup capacity according to the actual amount of sauce, dressing or side item served with each meal. Smaller 0.75–1 oz cups are suitable for small condiment portions, while 3.25–5.5 oz cups can handle larger dips and sides.
Thin sauces, oils and liquid dressings place greater demands on lid fit and transport orientation than thicker dips and spreads. Test the finished cup-and-lid combination with the real food product.
Cup capacity alone should not be used to select a lid. Confirm the exact top diameter, lid code and cup model before bulk purchasing.
Tell HSQY whether the product will be filled cold, chilled, ambient or warm. Filling temperature can affect cup stiffness, lid fit and food-contact requirements.
If the PP cup needs to be microwaved, provide the food type, microwave power, heating duration and maximum food temperature. The PET lid should be evaluated separately.
For takeaway and delivery applications, evaluate lid retention, cup deformation, stacking and resistance to leakage under the intended transport conditions.
A correctly fitted snap-on lid can help keep sauces and condiments contained during normal storage and transportation. However, a cup-and-lid system should not automatically be described as completely leakproof without application testing.
Leak resistance depends on cup-rim dimensions, lid fit, liquid viscosity, fill level, temperature, handling, stacking and whether the container remains upright during transport.
Buyers packaging thin sauces, oils or other low-viscosity liquids should perform transport and inversion tests with the actual cup and lid before confirming commercial use.
The cup and lid use two different polymer families: polypropylene for the cup and PET for the lid. Both materials can technically be recycled where appropriate collection, sorting and recycling infrastructure is available.
Actual acceptance varies by country and municipality, particularly for small-format foodservice packaging. Recycling claims should therefore reflect the waste-management system of the target market rather than assuming every cup and lid will be recycled.
HSQY can discuss customized portion-cup projects according to required capacity, appearance, packaging and order volume.

A portion cup is a small foodservice container used to measure, serve and package sauces, condiments, dressings, dips, toppings, samples and side portions.
Yes. Depending on the market, similar products may be described as portion cups, sauce cups, condiment cups, souffle cups, dip cups or dressing cups.
The current HSSC-B product uses polypropylene for the black cup and PET for the clear matching lid.
HSQY currently lists 0.75 oz, 1 oz, 1.5 oz, 2 oz, 3.25 oz, 4 oz and 5.5 oz portion cups.
Small 0.75 oz and 1 oz cups work well for small condiment portions, while 1.5 oz and 2 oz are common choices for sauces and dressings. Larger 3.25–5.5 oz cups are useful for dips and side portions.
The current HSQY 2 oz cup is approximately 62mm top diameter × 45mm bottom diameter × 30mm high. Two ounces is approximately 59ml.
The current HSQY 4 oz cup is approximately 74mm top diameter × 50mm bottom diameter × 43mm high. Four ounces is approximately 118ml.
This product is presented as a cup-and-lid solution using a black PP cup and clear PET lid. Confirm whether cups and lids are packed or quoted together or separately for the required order.
Suitable PP grades can support microwave heating, but the actual cup should be validated for the intended food, microwave power and heating time. Microwave suitability should be confirmed for the specific HSQY cup grade before use.
Do not assume the PET lid has the same microwave performance as the PP cup. Unless the supplied lid is specifically qualified for microwave use, remove it before heating the PP cup.
A properly matched lid can provide a secure, leak-resistant closure, but actual performance depends on lid fit, food viscosity, fill level, temperature and transportation conditions. Test the finished package before using it for liquids.
The current dimensions group the seven cup capacities around 45mm, 62mm and 74mm top diameters, suggesting potential lid standardization within each rim family. Exact lid compatibility should be confirmed with HSQY before ordering.
Polypropylene can technically be recycled where suitable collection and recycling infrastructure exists. Local acceptance of small foodservice cups varies by region.
PET is technically recyclable, but small lids may not be accepted by every local recycling program. Follow local packaging-disposal requirements.
HSQY can discuss customized colors, packing, labels and other project requirements according to order volume and manufacturing feasibility.
The current HSQY product page lists an MOQ of 30,000 pieces. Final MOQ may vary according to cup size, lid requirements, color and customized packing.
Sample evaluation can be discussed for checking cup dimensions, lid fit, portion volume, food compatibility and transportation performance before bulk ordering.
