Test Data Note: The values above are retained from the current HSQY product data. The supplied page does not identify the test standard, specimen thickness, conditioning method or laboratory conditions for every value. Projects with mandatory mechanical or fire-performance specifications should request the corresponding test report for the exact board grade.

Understanding Fire-Retardant PVC Foam Board

PVC foam board is a cellular rigid PVC material. The current HSQY reference data describes this product as self-extinguishing in less than five seconds.

For professional construction, transport, exhibition or public-space applications, the description “self-extinguishing” should not be treated as a substitute for a recognized fire classification. Test standards can evaluate different parameters including flame spread, after-flame time, smoke production and flaming droplets.

Buyers should therefore identify the required fire standard first and then confirm whether the selected board color, thickness and density has the corresponding test report.

Why Color, Thickness & Grade Matter for Fire Performance

Fire classification should be evaluated for the actual supplied product rather than assumed from the general term PVC foam board.

Different formulations, pigments, density ranges, board thicknesses and surface constructions can affect test results. A certificate for a white 5mm sheet, for example, should not automatically be assumed to cover every colored 20mm board unless the test scope states that it does.

Colored PVC Foam Board Options

HSQY lists white, red, yellow, blue, green and black as standard color directions, with customized colors available for qualifying projects.

Color Option Typical Selection Direction
White Printing, signage, displays, partitions and general fabrication
Black Displays, lettering, model making and contrasting graphic applications
Red / Yellow / Blue / Green Branded displays, signage, exhibitions and decorative panels
Custom Color Provide a target color reference, required thickness, density, quantity and surface finish for confirmation

For projects where color consistency is important, buyers should approve a representative sample and define acceptable color tolerance before bulk production.

1-35mm PVC Foam Board Thickness Range

The current HSQY range covers approximately 1mm to 35mm. Thickness should be selected according to the finished panel size, support spacing, required rigidity, fabrication method and application.

Thinner boards can be considered for lightweight graphics, displays and fabricated components, while thicker boards can provide increased section stiffness for furniture, partitions and fabricated panels.

Final board rigidity also depends on density, so thickness should not be evaluated independently from the selected foam density.

PVC Foam Board Density from 0.35 to 1.0g/cm³

Density influences board weight, rigidity, screw holding, edge strength and machining behavior. HSQY currently lists an available density range of 0.35-1.0g/cm³.

Buyers should therefore specify the required density instead of ordering only by thickness. Two PVC foam boards of the same thickness can have noticeably different weight and mechanical behavior when their densities differ.

Standard & Custom Sheet Sizes

Current standard size options include 1220×2440mm, 915×1830mm, 1560×3050mm and 2050×3050mm, with customized sizes also listed.

Large-format buyers should confirm thickness tolerance, width and length tolerance, flatness and pallet configuration because these parameters can affect CNC processing, printing, lamination and shipping efficiency.

Glossy & Matte Surface Options

Glossy and matte surfaces are listed in the current HSQY specification. Surface selection should match the downstream process and required visual appearance.

For direct digital printing, screen printing or lamination, buyers should evaluate surface smoothness, ink or adhesive compatibility and any required surface treatment using the intended production process.

PVC Foam Board for Printing & Signage

The cellular construction and smooth surface make PVC foam board a common substrate for signage, advertising panels, exhibition graphics and other visual communication applications.

Typical processing can include screen printing, compatible digital printing, lettering, routing, engraving and lamination. Production samples should be tested with the actual printer, ink, adhesive or finishing system before a large print program.

PVC Foam Board for Displays & Exhibitions

Colored PVC foam board can be used for exhibition displays, POS/POP structures, decorative lettering, branded panels and booth components where lightweight rigid sheet construction is useful.

If a trade-show venue or public building specifies a mandatory flame-performance classification, provide that exact standard when requesting the board. Do not rely only on a general self-extinguishing description.

PVC Foam Board for Interior Partitions

Interior partition panels and decorative boards are included among the existing HSQY application directions.

For architectural or public-space installations, board thickness and density should be selected according to panel dimensions and support conditions, while any mandatory building fire classification should be confirmed independently from the general product description.

PVC Foam Board for Furniture & Cabinets

The original product information includes kitchen cabinets, washroom cabinets and furniture applications.

Furniture buyers should specify density, thickness, surface requirement, edge machining, screw-holding needs and lamination requirements. A higher-density board may be preferred where greater rigidity or fastening performance is required.

Water Absorption & Wet-Area Use

Current HSQY test data lists water absorption at ≤1.5%. This supports applications where resistance to normal moisture exposure is useful.

The published value should not be rewritten as zero water absorption. For washrooms, cabinets or other humid environments, joints, exposed edges, fasteners and the complete installation should also be designed for the intended service conditions.

Chemical & Corrosion Resistance

The existing HSQY product description references corrosion resistance and chemical anti-corrosion applications.

Chemical resistance varies according to the chemical, concentration, temperature and exposure time. Buyers using the board near acids, alkalis, cleaners, solvents or industrial chemicals should provide the specific chemical environment for compatibility confirmation.

Outdoor Applications Require Grade Confirmation

Outdoor wall boards and exterior advertising are listed among the original application directions, but fire-retardant performance alone does not establish long-term outdoor weatherability.

Exterior projects should separately confirm UV stabilization, color-fade expectations, weathering data, thermal expansion and outdoor warranty if required.

PVC Foam Board Fabrication

The original HSQY page identifies the material as suitable for a wide range of fabrication methods.

  • Saw cutting

  • CNC routing

  • Drilling

  • Punching

  • Die cutting for suitable thicknesses

  • Sanding

  • Engraving

  • Screwing

  • Nailing

  • Riveting

  • Bonding with compatible adhesive systems

Tooling, cutting speed and fastening method should be selected according to board thickness and density. Test fabrication on a representative production sample where edge quality or dimensional accuracy is important.
