Description
280mm tray sealing film is a wide lidding-film roll developed for heat-sealing compatible CPET food trays on manual, semi-automatic, or automatic tray-sealing equipment. The standard roll size on this page is 280mm wide × 500m long, making it suitable for larger tray formats, multi-compartment meal trays, and tooling layouts that require a wider film web.
HSQY supplies PET- or BOPET-based lidding-film structures with an application-specific sealing layer. Available options include clear film, custom printing, easy peel, medium peel, weld seal, anti-fog, high barrier, freezer-compatible, microwave-compatible, and application-specific ovenable grades.
Film width alone does not determine tray compatibility. Before commercial production, the film should be tested with the actual CPET tray, flange design, sealing machine, tooling, food product, sealing temperature, pressure, dwell time, storage conditions, and reheating process.

The lidding-film web must cover the full sealing-tool layout with sufficient allowance for registration, cutting, and edge trim. A 280mm roll is appropriate only when the tray dimensions and the tray-sealer tooling fit within the usable film width.
| Width-Selection Item | Why It Matters | Information to Provide |
|---|---|---|
| Tray Top Dimensions | The film must cover the outer tray flange, not only the internal food cavity | Maximum outside length and width of the tray flange |
| Tooling Layout | Multi-cavity tools may place two or more trays across the web | Number of cavities, tray orientation, gap, and cutting layout |
| Trim Margin | Insufficient margin may cause misalignment; excessive margin increases waste | Required edge allowance and acceptable trim waste |
| Print Registration | Printed film requires accurate repeat and eye-mark positioning | Print repeat, eye-mark location, artwork orientation, and registration tolerance |
| Machine Roll Limits | The machine must accept the roll width, core, weight, and outer diameter | Machine brand, model, core ID, maximum OD, and maximum roll weight |
| Seal Type | Opening Performance | Typical Use |
|---|---|---|
| Easy Peel | Controlled, consumer-friendly opening with reduced tearing or residue | Retail ready meals, desserts, chilled foods, and convenience packs |
| Medium Peel | Balances opening convenience and stronger distribution security | Large meals, catering trays, and products exposed to rougher handling |
| Weld Seal | Creates a stronger permanent seal and enhanced tamper evidence | Liquid-containing meals, heavy products, and maximum-security packaging |
Anti-fog treatment helps reduce condensation on the inside surface of the film and improves product visibility in refrigerated display. It is useful for chilled ready meals, meat, vegetables, bakery products, dairy, and foods with high moisture content.
High-barrier versions may incorporate EVOH or another barrier layer for modified atmosphere packaging. Buyers should provide the target oxygen transmission rate, water-vapor transmission rate, gas mixture, food type, storage temperature, and shelf-life target.
CPET trays are frequently selected for frozen, microwave, and conventional-oven meals. However, an ovenable tray does not automatically make every lidding film suitable for the same temperature. The PET carrier, sealant, adhesive, ink, coating, seal area, and complete package must all remain suitable during the specified heating cycle.
For oven or microwave projects, provide the maximum temperature, heating time, whether the film remains on the tray during cooking, venting requirements, food type, fill weight, freezer or chilled storage conditions, and the required food-contact regulations.

Seal quality depends on the machine, sealing temperature, pressure, dwell time, film tension, tooling flatness, tray rigidity, flange cleanliness, food contamination, and production speed. Excessive heat can cause shrinkage or overly aggressive seals, while insufficient heat can cause incomplete bonding and leakage.
Before mass production, test roll feeding, web tracking, cutting accuracy, seal continuity, peel force, leakage, burst strength, wrinkling, print registration, anti-fog performance, freezer performance, MAP gas retention, microwave performance, and oven performance when applicable.
Provide the following information so HSQY can confirm whether the 280mm roll is suitable and recommend the correct film structure:

HSQY can provide available quality-management, inspection, and material documentation for the supplied film grade. Buyers should request the technical data sheet, certificate of analysis, food-contact declaration, migration or compliance reports, roll inspection criteria, and destination-market documentation for the exact film structure and application.
ISO 9001 is a quality-management-system certification and should not be presented as product-specific proof of food-contact safety. Recyclability claims should also be evaluated for the completed tray-and-film package and the recycling infrastructure in the destination market.

Sample Packaging: Trial rolls are packed in protective bags or cartons to reduce dust, moisture, scratching, creasing, and edge damage.
Roll Packing: Rolls may be approximately 30kg or customized, wrapped in PE film, kraft paper, or another suitable protective material.
Pallet Packing: Approximately 500–2000kg per plywood pallet may be used depending on roll dimensions and shipment conditions.
Roll Identification: Labels can show film grade, thickness, width, length, lot number, seal side, winding direction, net weight, and production date.
Container Loading: Loading plans are calculated from roll dimensions, pallet configuration, and container type rather than a universal fixed weight.
Delivery Terms: EXW, FOB, CIF/CNF, DDU, and door-to-door services can be discussed.
Lead Time: Typically 7–15 days for standard orders, subject to printing, structure, quantity, and production schedule.
The standard roll size on this page is 280mm wide × 500m long. Thickness, roll length, core, outer diameter, and other roll specifications can be customized subject to production feasibility.
A 280mm roll may suit large trays, multi-compartment trays, or tooling layouts that place more than one tray across the film web. The actual tray outside dimensions, flange, cavity layout, and trim allowance must be checked.
No. The tray sealer must accept the 280mm web width, core size, roll weight, maximum outer diameter, winding direction, and film tension. Send the machine brand and model before ordering.
Yes. Easy-peel, medium-peel, and weld-seal versions can be evaluated. The target peel force and failure mode must be tested with the actual CPET tray and production conditions.
Yes. Anti-fog treatment can be supplied for chilled meals, meat, produce, bakery, dairy, and other moist foods where condensation may reduce visibility.
High-barrier structures can be evaluated for modified atmosphere packaging. Provide the required OTR, WVTR, gas mixture, food type, storage temperature, and target shelf life.
It should not be assumed that every PET/PE laminate is suitable for 200°C. Conventional-oven use requires an application-specific structure validated with the exact film, tray, food, temperature, heating time, and cooking method.
Yes. Custom printing can include logos, graphics, preparation instructions, product information, traceability content, and date-code areas. Provide the artwork, colors, print repeat, eye-mark location, and annual volume.
Common causes include uneven tension, incorrect roll alignment, unsuitable core or outer diameter, damaged roll edges, inconsistent film thickness, poor unwind control, tooling misalignment, or excessive heat shrinkage.
Leakage or inconsistent peel may result from incompatible sealant chemistry, contaminated tray rims, incorrect temperature, insufficient pressure or dwell time, uneven tooling, tray deformation, food oils, condensation, or unsuitable storage conditions.
Different tray materials may require different sealing layers. A grade developed for CPET should not automatically be used for APET, PET/PE, PP, aluminium, or coated paperboard without compatibility testing.
The current stated MOQ is 500kg. Sample and trial quantities depend on available stock, required film structure, roll width, and conversion requirements.
Typical lead time is approximately 7–15 days for standard orders after deposit and final specification approval. Printed, high-barrier, or special thermal grades may require additional time.
Yes, subject to stock and specification. Send the tray sample, tray dimensions, machine model, required roll configuration, seal type, food application, storage conditions, and heating process.
Store rolls in their original protective packaging in a clean, dry area away from direct sunlight, excessive heat, moisture, dust, solvents, and strong odors. Keep wide rolls properly supported and allow cold-stored material to acclimatize before opening.
