Product Description
HSQY PET/PE Thermoforming Film for Meat Packaging is a clear semi-rigid laminated material designed for thermoformed meat trays, fish and seafood packaging, cheese packs, chilled-food containers and form-fill-seal applications.
The material combines an APET or PET structural layer with a polyethylene sealing layer. The PET layer provides transparency, rigidity, impact resistance and thermoforming support, while the PE layer provides heat-sealing capability, flexibility and moisture resistance.
The featured product is identified as PET/PE Laminated Film -02 and is currently published in a total thickness range of approximately 0.23–0.58 mm. A reference construction uses an approximately 50 μm PE sealing layer, while the complete layer structure should be confirmed according to the tray design, forming depth, sealing film and packaging process.
PET/PE film can be supplied in clear roll form with customized dimensions and 3-inch or 6-inch cores. Weld-seal and peelable grades can be selected according to the required closure performance, compatible lidding film and packaging equipment.

Request Current PET/PE Technical Specifications
The PET-based layer provides the rigid forming body of the package. It contributes transparency, stiffness, mechanical strength and dimensional stability during thermoforming, filling, sealing and retail handling.
The PE layer provides a heat-sealable surface that can bond to a compatible lidding film when controlled heat, pressure and dwell time are applied. The PE layer also contributes flexibility and moisture resistance.
The published product information references an approximately 50 μm PE layer. Buyers should not assume that every PET/PE specification uses the same layer ratio. The PET thickness, PE thickness and total laminate should be matched to tray depth, rigidity, sealing and package-performance requirements.
Download the available PET data sheet for preliminary material evaluation. Buyers should also request the current PET/PE laminate specification applicable to the selected thickness, PE layer, sealing grade and production batch.
The PET layer provides a transparent package structure that allows consumers and foodservice operators to see meat, fish, cheese and other chilled products through the formed tray.
The rigid PET layer provides a stable forming body for trays and packaging cavities when the film thickness, heater profile, mold design and forming ratio are correctly matched.
The PE surface supports heat sealing to compatible PE-based lidding films. Seal integrity depends on the film structures, sealing temperature, pressure, dwell time, flange condition and packaging equipment.
Weld-seal structures can be selected when stronger permanent closure is required, while peelable grades can be evaluated when controlled consumer opening is important.
The PE layer contributes moisture resistance and helps support chilled-food packaging applications. Quantitative WVTR should be confirmed when moisture transmission is critical to shelf-life performance.
PET provides useful impact resistance and dimensional stability during thermoforming, product filling, sealing, transportation and retail handling. Final tray performance should be validated after forming.
PET/PE bottom web can be thermoformed into clear trays for chilled beef, pork and other meat products where rigidity, product visibility and heat sealing are required.
The film can be evaluated for poultry trays and formed packs. Buyers should confirm impact strength, forming depth, seal integrity and liquid-management requirements for the actual product.
PET/PE structures can be used for suitable fish and seafood packaging where clear presentation, formed-tray rigidity and PE-compatible sealing are required.
The material can also be evaluated for cheese, dairy and deli packaging where thermoforming and reliable sealing are required.
PET/PE rollstock can be used on suitable thermoform-fill-seal lines where the bottom web is heated and formed, filled with product and sealed with a compatible upper web.
PET/PE laminated thermoforming film for rigid food-packaging applications.
PET/PE film for clear thermoformed food trays and form-fill-seal packaging.
PET/PE thermoforming film for fresh meat and chilled-food packaging.
The required laminate structure should be selected according to the packaged meat, target shelf life, gas environment, oxygen sensitivity and storage conditions. Standard PET/PE and high-barrier PET/EVOH/PE serve different packaging requirements.
| Selection Factor | PET/PE | PET/EVOH/PE |
|---|---|---|
| Main Structure | PET structural layer + PE sealing layer | PET structural layer + EVOH barrier layer + PE sealing layer |
| Heat Sealing | Yes, through compatible PE sealing surface | Yes, through compatible PE sealing surface |
| Oxygen Barrier | Application-specific; request measured OTR | Designed for significantly higher oxygen-barrier requirements when correctly specified |
| Typical Packaging | General chilled-food and heat-sealed trays | MAP and applications requiring lower oxygen transmission or extended shelf life |
| Selection Basis | Forming, sealing, moisture resistance and required shelf life | Defined OTR target, MAP conditions, shelf-life target and sealing requirement |
For fresh meat packaging requiring modified-atmosphere conditions or a defined extended shelf life, provide the target OTR, WVTR, gas mixture, storage temperature and shelf-life requirement so the appropriate laminate can be evaluated.
A peelable PET/PE structure is intended to provide sufficient package integrity during storage and distribution while allowing controlled opening by the end user. Peel strength should be validated with the exact lidding film and tray flange.
A weld-seal grade is intended for applications requiring a stronger permanent bond. Seal integrity should be tested using the actual packaging machine, mating film, seal temperature, pressure and dwell time.
Tell HSQY whether the package requires easy opening, strong permanent sealing, MAP, vacuum, chilled storage or other specific conditions. The bottom web and lidding film should be evaluated as one packaging system.
The PET/PE bottom web is heated to the forming window required by the selected PET grade and total laminate thickness.
Vacuum, compressed air or plug assistance forms the heated web into the required tray cavity. Deep draws require careful control of wall-thickness distribution.
Fresh meat, poultry, fish, seafood, cheese or another product is placed into the formed cavity.
Where required by the packaging design, air can be removed or replaced with a specified gas mixture before sealing. The laminate barrier performance should be matched to the intended packaging system.
A compatible lidding film is sealed to the PE surface using controlled temperature, pressure and dwell time.
The finished sealed packs are trimmed and separated according to the packaging-line configuration.
Food product: Specify beef, pork, poultry, fish, seafood, cheese, deli product or another chilled food.
Total thickness: Specify the required laminate gauge and tolerance. Deeper trays and heavier products may require a different starting thickness.
PE layer: Confirm the required sealing layer instead of relying only on total thickness. The published approximately 50 μm PE layer is a reference construction rather than a universal requirement.

Seal type: Specify peelable or weld seal and provide the intended lidding-film structure.
Barrier requirement: Provide target OTR and WVTR if shelf life depends on quantified barrier performance.
Packaging atmosphere: State whether the pack is air-packed, vacuum-packed or uses modified-atmosphere packaging.
Storage conditions: Provide the intended temperature range, shelf life and distribution conditions.
Destination market: State the country or region where the finished package will be sold so applicable food-contact documentation can be reviewed.
