Product Description
HSQY Matte PET Sheet Roll is a low-gloss polyethylene terephthalate material developed for printing, folding boxes, binding covers, stationery, packaging windows, vacuum forming, thermoforming and other converted plastic applications.
Compared with conventional glossy PET, the matte surface reduces strong reflections and creates a softer visual appearance. It is suitable for printed packaging and display applications where controlled surface reflection, distinctive texture and a premium finish are required.
This product is primarily a thick-gauge PET sheet or roll rather than an ultrathin flexible BOPET film. The published product range covers approximately 0.18–1.2 mm thickness, roll widths from approximately 110–1280 mm, standard cut-sheet sizes and customized dimensions.
Matte appearance, haze, transparency, surface texture and printability can vary by material construction and production process. Buyers with critical visual requirements should approve a physical sample or define the required appearance before bulk production.

Matte PET sheet is a polyethylene terephthalate sheet with a low-gloss, frosted or textured surface on one or both sides. Compared with polished glossy PET, the matte finish scatters reflected light and creates a softer, less reflective appearance.
The surface effect may be produced through texture, treatment, coating, extrusion or another production method depending on the required appearance and downstream process.
Matte PET is frequently selected for printed covers, premium packaging, folding boxes, stationery and displays because the finish can reduce visible glare and make light fingerprints or handling marks less noticeable than on a highly polished surface.
| Comparison | Matte PET Sheet / Thick Roll | Thin Matte BOPET Film |
|---|---|---|
| Typical Thickness Description | Semi-rigid or rigid gauges commonly specified in millimeters | Thin flexible film normally specified in microns |
| Material Behavior | Semi-rigid or rigid sheet behavior | Flexible oriented polyester film |
| Common Processes | Sheet printing, die cutting, folding, vacuum forming and thermoforming | Web printing, coating, lamination, labels and flexible-packaging conversion |
| Typical Uses | Folding boxes, covers, stationery, trays, windows and rigid printed components | Flexible laminates, labels, pouches and thin-film graphic applications |
The low-gloss PET surface can provide a distinctive appearance for printed packaging, covers, graphics and stationery. However, surface texture changes the effective contact area between the PET and printing ink, so printing performance should be tested on the exact production surface.
Suitable matte PET grades can be screen printed using PET-compatible inks. Test ink opacity, adhesion, drying or curing, flexibility and rub resistance before production.
For UV printing, evaluate ink adhesion, UV curing, heat buildup, color density, stacking and blocking using the actual printing machine and production ink.
Selected matte PET surfaces can be evaluated for offset printing. Confirm substrate feeding, static behavior, ink chemistry, surface treatment and curing conditions before commercial production.
Corona treatment is not automatically required for every printing system. The correct treatment depends on PET surface chemistry, ink type, printing method and required adhesion. Provide the intended printing process when requesting material.
| Surface | Characteristics | Typical Uses |
|---|---|---|
| Matte / Matte | Reduced gloss on both surfaces with a consistent low-reflection appearance | Binding covers, dividers, stationery, printed panels and decorative sheet applications |
| Matte / Gloss | Low-gloss appearance on one side with a smoother or clearer reverse side | Folding boxes, windows, printed packaging and projects requiring different front and back surfaces |
The matte surface reduces strong direct reflections compared with glossy PET and provides a softer visual finish for packaging, printed covers and display applications.
Fine surface texture can make minor handling marks and fingerprints less noticeable than on a highly polished transparent surface. This is a visual benefit rather than a claim of scratch-proof performance.
Suitable PET grades provide practical stiffness and dimensional stability for printing, cutting, scoring, folding and fabricated components.
Matte PET can be die cut for packaging, covers, cards, dividers and other components. Cutting performance depends on blade condition, clearance, pressure, thickness and material direction.
Suitable matte PET thicknesses can be scored and folded. Crease width, depth, fold radius and material direction should be optimized to control whitening, cracking and spring-back.
Appropriate matte PET or APET grades can be vacuum formed or thermoformed. Heating and stretching may change the appearance of the matte surface, so the finished formed component should be evaluated before bulk production.
PET provides useful resistance to moisture and many common chemicals. Compatibility should still be tested with the actual oil, solvent, cleaner, adhesive or chemical that will contact the finished product.
Matte PET can be used for printed packaging panels, sleeves and transparent or translucent packaging where a softer, low-reflection appearance is desired.
Suitable PET sheet can be printed, die cut, scored and folded into retail boxes for cosmetics, stationery, clothing, electronics and other products.
Typical applications include book covers, notebook covers, document covers, folders, dividers, menu covers, stationery and reusable printed plastic sheets.
Translucent or partially transparent matte PET can be used for packaging windows where the product should remain visible while reducing the high-gloss appearance of standard clear PET.
Thermoforming-compatible matte PET grades can be formed into trays, covers, inserts and packaging components after the required forming depth and surface appearance have been validated.
Matte PET can be printed and fabricated into display cards, signs, promotional sheets and other components where glare reduction and a controlled visual finish are useful.
Matte PET sheet can be printed, cut and converted into packaging, promotional and consumer-product components.
Matte PET is suitable for binding covers, folders, dividers, menus and other stationery applications.

Discuss Your Matte PET Printing Project
Compare the production sample with the approved reference under consistent lighting. Check matte uniformity, gloss, haze, transparency, color and visible surface defects.
Print the actual production ink on the selected PET surface and evaluate adhesion after complete curing or drying.
Matte texture can influence ink coverage and apparent color density. Evaluate the printed result using the actual graphics, ink laydown and viewing conditions.
Evaluate the printed surface after rubbing, stacking and normal handling. Where higher abrasion resistance is required, define the appropriate coating or protective-film requirement separately.
Use the actual production tools to check edge quality, cracking, burrs, dimensional accuracy, fold whitening and spring-back.
If the material will be thermoformed after printing or before decoration, test the actual mold and evaluate surface appearance, print distortion, wall distribution and retention of the matte effect.
For bonded or laminated products, test the actual adhesive, tape or laminating film for bond strength, clarity, blooming, cure behavior and long-term appearance.
PET is a recyclable thermoplastic where suitable collection, sorting and recycling systems are available. Conventional PET should not be described as naturally biodegradable under normal disposal conditions.
The recyclability of the finished product may be affected by printing inks, coatings, laminates, adhesives, labels, colors and contamination. Evaluate the complete converted product rather than only the base PET sheet.
Where matte PET is intended for food-contact packaging, request current product-specific documentation covering the PET resin, matte treatment, additives, food type, contact temperature, contact duration and destination market.
HSQY supplies matte PET sheet and roll material to printers, folding-box manufacturers, packaging converters, stationery manufacturers, thermoforming companies, distributors and international commercial buyers.
The current product listing publishes a minimum order quantity of approximately 1,000 kg. Customized colors, textures, surface treatments or uncommon dimensions may require different production minimums.
Samples can be discussed for preliminary evaluation of matte appearance, printing adhesion, die cutting, folding, thermoforming and bonding. Buyers should test representative samples using the actual production equipment whenever possible.
