Product Description
HSQY pharmaceutical PVC rigid film is a thermoformable forming material for capsule, tablet and other qualified solid-dose blister packaging. The film is supplied in rolls for compatible pharmaceutical blister packaging lines and can be customized according to thickness, slit width, color, roll dimensions and processing requirements.
The current product range covers approximately 0.1mm to 1.5mm thickness, transparent or colored material and a 76mm reference inner core. Plain rigid PVC is suitable for many standard blister applications, while medicines requiring greater moisture or oxygen protection may require PVC/PVDC or another qualified higher-barrier structure.
For pharmaceutical packaging projects, the forming film should be selected together with the capsule or tablet characteristics, blister cavity design, lidding material, sealing conditions, required barrier level, packaging equipment and applicable qualification requirements.

Pharmaceutical PVC Rigid Film
PVC Blister Forming Film
Pharmaceutical rigid PVC is used as the forming web in thermoformed blister packaging. During production, the roll is unwound and heated before cavities are formed by vacuum, pressure or another compatible thermoforming method.
Capsules or tablets are then placed into the formed cavities. A compatible pharmaceutical lidding material is applied and sealed to the forming web before the blister packs are coded, perforated or cut according to the validated packaging process.
| Film Unwinding | PVC rollstock is fed into the blister packaging machine at the specified web tension. |
| Heating | The rigid PVC film is heated within an appropriate forming window. |
| Cavity Forming | Cavities are formed according to capsule or tablet dimensions and tooling design. |
| Product Loading | The qualified dosage form is placed into the formed cavities. |
| Lidding & Sealing | A compatible pharmaceutical lidding material is applied and sealed to the blister web. |
Thermoforming Performance: Suitable pharmaceutical PVC grades can be formed into consistent blister cavities for capsules and tablets.
Dimensional Stability: Rigid PVC provides structural support for the formed blister web and finished blister card.
Product Visibility: Transparent PVC allows visual inspection of the packaged dosage form.
Color Options: Colored material can be discussed for identification or specific package-design requirements.
Roll Processing: Material can be supplied for compatible continuous blister packaging equipment.
Custom Slitting: Roll width can be configured according to the required web width and production specification.
Multiple Barrier Options: Plain PVC or higher-barrier PVC-based structures can be evaluated according to the sensitivity of the packaged medicine.
Barrier performance should be selected according to product stability data. Plain rigid PVC is generally used where standard protection is sufficient, while moisture-sensitive or oxygen-sensitive pharmaceutical products may require a higher-barrier material.
| Material Structure | General Characteristics | Typical Selection Consideration |
| Plain Rigid PVC | Clear thermoforming film with standard moisture and gas protection | Stable tablets and capsules with moderate protection requirements |
| PVC/PVDC | Rigid PVC substrate combined with an additional PVDC barrier layer | Products requiring increased moisture and oxygen protection |
| PVC/PE/PVDC | Multilayer structure combining thermoforming and higher-barrier functions | Selected deeper-cavity or higher-protection pharmaceutical applications |
| Higher-Barrier Laminates | Specialized transparent or opaque structures with increased moisture, oxygen or light protection | Highly sensitive pharmaceutical formulations after package qualification |
Selecting the highest-barrier structure is not always necessary. Package selection should consider dosage-form stability, required shelf life, climate, cavity dimensions, packaging line performance, material cost and qualification requirements.
Pharmaceutical rigid PVC can be evaluated for hard-capsule and other qualified capsule blister packs. Capsule dimensions, cavity depth, forming temperature and required barrier performance should be considered when defining the film specification.
Rigid PVC is commonly used as a thermoforming web for tablet blister packaging where product visibility, dimensional stability and efficient forming performance are required.
Selected grades can also be evaluated for vitamins, supplements and other solid-dose healthcare products after confirming product compatibility, barrier requirements and applicable packaging standards.
For formulations requiring increased moisture or oxygen protection, PVC/PVDC or another qualified higher-barrier structure can be evaluated instead of standard mono PVC.
Rigid PVC Packaging Film
Pharmaceutical Blister Packaging
Medical & Pharmaceutical Packaging
Standard tablets with relatively shallow blister cavities generally place different forming demands on PVC film than large capsules, large-format tablets or deep cavities. Film thickness, formulation and forming window should therefore be selected according to the actual blister geometry and packaging line.
For deeper or more complex cavities, customers should provide cavity dimensions and machine information so that forming performance can be evaluated before commercial production.
For a more accurate quotation and material evaluation, please provide as much of the following information as possible:
Required material structure: plain PVC, PVC/PVDC or other structure
Nominal thickness and tolerance
Required slit width
Core diameter
Maximum roll diameter
Required roll weight or roll length
Winding direction if specified
Transparent or colored material
Capsule or tablet dimensions
Blister cavity dimensions and forming depth
Blister packaging machine model
Lidding material used with the blister
Required moisture or oxygen barrier level
Required pharmaceutical packaging documents
Initial order quantity and estimated annual consumption
Destination country or market
For new packaging projects, trial material should be evaluated on the intended blister packaging line before commercial approval. Important checks include film feeding, heating, cavity definition, forming uniformity, sealing conditions, finished blister integrity and product stability.
Pharmaceutical blister packaging requires product-specific qualification. Quality-management certificates alone should not be treated as proof that every PVC formulation is suitable for every pharmaceutical product or destination market.
Buyers should specify the required pharmaceutical packaging standard and documentation package during technical evaluation. Available specifications, batch information, test reports and supporting documents should be matched to the exact material grade supplied.
Sample Packing: A4-size rigid PVC sample sheets can be packed in protective bags and cartons.
Sheet Packing: Approximately 30kg per package or according to the agreed packing requirement.
Pallet Packing: Approximately 500–2000kg per plywood pallet depending on product configuration.
Container Loading: Approximately 20 tons under standard loading conditions, subject to final dimensions and packing configuration.
Typical Lead Time: Approximately 10–14 working days, subject to specification and order volume.
Delivery Terms: EXW, FOB, CNF and DDU.

Pharmaceutical PVC blister film is a rigid thermoformable material used as the forming web for capsule, tablet and other qualified solid-dose blister packaging.
Yes. Suitable pharmaceutical PVC film can be thermoformed into cavities for capsules. Film thickness, formulation and forming conditions should be matched to capsule size, cavity depth and packaging equipment.
The current product range covers approximately 0.1mm to 1.5mm. The final thickness should be confirmed according to the blister design, forming depth and validated packaging specification.
Plain PVC provides standard thermoforming and basic barrier performance. PVC/PVDC adds a PVDC barrier layer to improve protection against moisture and oxygen for pharmaceutical products requiring greater environmental protection.
No. The forming film should be selected according to product stability and required shelf life. Highly moisture-sensitive or oxygen-sensitive products may require a higher-barrier structure.
Material for deeper or more complex cavities can be evaluated according to cavity dimensions, thickness, forming temperature and machine conditions. Provide your blister drawing or cavity dimensions when requesting material evaluation.
Yes. Roll width can be customized according to production capability and blister-machine requirements. Please provide the required slit width, core diameter, roll diameter and roll weight.
The current product specification lists a 76mm inner core diameter. Other roll specifications should be confirmed according to the customer's equipment.
The current listed MOQ is 1000kg. Customized colors, special widths, barrier structures or other non-standard specifications may require different minimum production quantities.
Sample material can be discussed according to the required grade, thickness and available stock. Testing the material on the intended blister line is recommended before commercial approval.
